It would be nice to be able to have the option to get rid of all your vassals and take their holdings so you can reassign them at the beginning of the game.
Huge overhaul mods will never be compatilbe with each other. They tend to rewrite the same events files and titles etc.I dont feel like going through 120+ pages to find the answer - is this compatible with CK2+?
A little while back in the campaign I'm playing now, Iconoclast overtook Orthodox (by a *lot*, 73 vs 25 provinces). Orthodox shows as a heresy of Iconoclast, but k_orthodox is still king level in the save file, with no holder & is inactive. Likewise, d_iconoclast is still a duchy. Who is in overall control of the religions is determined by which is marked as the parent religion.HIP (not sure which module) actually elevates Sunni and Shiite to kingdom-level titles where vanilla has them as duchies.
I'm not sure what the mechanics do, but I know I've seen a heresy overtake a religion before. Is it possible the kingdom title flips with the heresy/parent designation?
Also, Sunni and Idabi (the only two I know off the top of my head) are both duchy tier caliphites.
That's not what Paradox decided with the release of SoA (v2.0), for whatever reason. Personally, I think k_orthodox ought to be duke-tier as well (and k_shiite), but there really is no impetus to change it, and in the case of k_orthodox, it would be an ungodly amount of code to change / who knows the repercussions. It makes sense for the Papacy, though.@zijistark
But what about Iconclast and the other orthodox heresies, shouldn't only an emperor be able to vassalize them as well?
I think that's there a decision for this called "Restore the Ecumenical Patriarchy" or some such (decisions/religious_decisions.txt). It requires the Patriarch to not already have b_hagiasophia, however.@zijistark
Thanks for the info Ziji, much appreciated.
Also, while we are on the subject. It is impossible to vassalize the Orthodox Patriarch in the following situation:
1) Byzantine empire collapses after they lose Constantinople, orthodox patriarch is now independent
2) I create the Byzantine Empire
3) I give the patriarch the church holding in Constantinople
4) Patriarch will not join me as a vassal.
There is no way to vassalize the patriarch at that point. If I push for the church holding then I just gain the church holding. The Patriarch will not join me because he is not de jure apart of the byzantine empire. I usually have to go into the save file and edit it to have the patriarch as my vassal. There should be some sort of CB for the byzantine emperor to force his religious head (assuming orthodox or orthodox heresy) to become a vassal to the emperor. At leats I think so.
I'm sorry. Looking at the decision now, it's only for when the Patriachy has been deactivated, e.g. due to Iconoclast take-over. I will try to add a decision to vassalize the Ecumencical Patriarchy soon.@zijistark
Formed the ERE, I personally hold the bishop tiltes of Constantinople and there is no decision to vassalize the patriarch.

Yeah, sounds good. I'll add both decisions to my "medium-term" list-- maybe toss one in with the next release if I'm feeling Byzzie (contradictory pun intended).Could you also add one for restoring the Varangian Guard? Same issue; if the Byzantine Empire is broken, any restoration of it cannot re-vassalize the Guard.
