Good site indeed. But I think the 1648 map is wrong; it should show the Swedish gains of the peace of Westphalia - but it only shows Vorpommern as being Swedish, not Bremen-Verden which is grey.

Just a small detail...:)

There was a computer program at Yale that was used in a History of the Reformation class, but I have no clue what the program was called, but it had animated border changes from the time of Luther until the changes from the Congress of Vienna. You could focus on one country in particular, which was very useful in tracking the unification of the provinces of Brandenburd-Prussia.

Poland as a republic ("Rzeczpospolita" - Res Publica). Tell me how it is possible we had a king but we were "Rzeczpospolita" = republic :)) !

Elections to decide who is the king. Like what happens in UAE.

Someone apparently mistranslated the Polish word that's normally translated as 'Commonwealth'.

Commonwealth is a quite good translation for "Res Publica", actually. Don't misunderstand it, the word Republic in a classical sense doesn't imply having or having not a king, it just refers to the "matters of state".

This page (maps) shows Norway as independent country from 1811 on. I thought that it belonged to Swedish realm 1811-1905?

- Norway wasn't independent until 1905, being in a union with Sweden 1814-1905.

The maps are great, but have some flaws; the Danish-Prussian War of 1864 is dated in 1862! This changes the 1863 map somewhat!

Someone posted a link to it once in the History Forums, but I can't find it now.

You can get it for 20 US dollars instead of 90 if you order with a group of 20 or more people. So, theoretically, if enough EU people were interested...

I'm up for it if I'm satisfied with the demo I'm downloading now. How will we order together though?
