NOTE: ALL BUSINESS THAT IS NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE AAR (SIGNUPS, SAVEFILES) GOES IN THE ADMIN THREAD, HERE
So you're probably thinking: Whoa, two megacampaigns from Dovahkiing? Is he insane or something?
Well, perhaps I am insane if your definition of insanity is 'being incredibly bored in math class'. As the title indicates, this will be a 'Succession Game'. Now what's that? For those who don't know, a 'Succession Game' is when there is a group of players who take turns playing a single game. Let's say there are four players in the group: Player A plays from the start to the death of the starting character, Player B plays that character's heir until he dies, then Player C continues with the next character, passing it with his character's death to Player D, who plays until the fourth character dies, at which point Player A plays the fifth character until his death, and so on.
As the first part of the thread title states, this AAR will be about that dynasty so beloved of CK players, the immortal House Crovan, the subject of the only CKII AAR (so far) that has run from 1066 to 1453, and also the subject of one of the best comedies on the forum ever, The Adventures of the Crovan Clan, by Alfred Packer.
The first update has already been posted by Thragka, covering the rule of the first Crovan ruler, Duke Gudrod Haraldsson of the Isles, on page 2, but anybody who wishes to do so is welcome to join!
After each ruler's death, the player who played him must save the game, upload the save, and write an AAR post describing, in any way he wishes, that character's reign. If he died after less than a year you must play on until his heir's death.
Rules for playing:
No reloads or cheats.
No savefile editing unless it is to fix a bug.
No causing the intentional defeat of the Crovans.
No marrying Matilda of Tuscany (that's just the rule no self-respecting AAR can start without!)
No creating of Empires (in CK2) since they will interfere with the EU3 conversion.
As for the 'Megacampaign' aspect:
We will start in the Stamford Bridge scenario, and play until 31 December, 1452 (CK2's end date.)
At that point I will convert the savefile to EU3: DW and play until 31 December, 1835, (to avoid a gap between EU3 and V2), then convert to V2: AHD and play until 1936 then convert to Arsenal of Democracy (not HoI3, due to HoI3 being more expensive and the converter less complete) and play until 1966, thus having played 900 years of history.
As for the problem in V2 and AoD not having single rulers for each nation, thus deciding the breakpoint for each player's turn, well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it!
