Out of curiosity, is converting to the capital's culture a targeted diplo-action on the province, or an old-fashioned intrigue screen one?
That one is the same as it always was -- a regular decision in the Intrigue menu.
Just a question, but why are vassals of a successful Invasion CB considered subjugated?
Short answer: That is standard practice for all subjugations/invasions in all of our CBs for various good reasons. Direct answer: They're considered subjugated, because their home realm has been conquered by a foreign invader that took the primary title of their liege as his own and directly gained whatever land he occupied and forced them to be his vassals by right of conquest. Is there a better definition of subjugated? If so, it's not the one we've used here.
IRL, William the Conquerer faced pretty constant revolts in the period 1066-1068 - arguably he fought more holding onto the title than he did actually taking it.
That is interesting and helpful. A game reality, however, is that we cannot easily promote William having a lot of revolts for 2 years following conquest without also heavily promoting the ahistorical outcome of him losing England entirely. So, we make compromises. If this were a 100% sandbox gameplay-only mod, we'd not care whether the Normans successfully invaded England and then managed to hold it successfully.
A question on the new Invasion CB and subjugation - wouldn't that prevent the dynamic that followed the historical Norman Conquest, including the Harrying of the North?
It would indeed somewhat prevent the historical timing of a theoretical Harrying of the North dynamic/mechanic if it existed. There isn't such a dynamic really in the game, however. One could argue that the claim of
Edgar Atheling could be supported by the claimant faction or something, but this doesn't happen AFAIK.
Also, as above, please keep in mind that our goal is to promote bigger-picture historical outcomes in general, and this rule serves that end in general for the Invasion CB and for William as far as we can tell. 10 years is not that long either.
For some reason starting as a pagan norse in russia I can usurp the Crown of Asturias? Anyone having this glitch?
Every game I play Asturias is immediatly claimed by the byzantines, removing any resistance in spain.
Yes, everyone is having that glitch, as you can see on the forums here. It's been an issue with SWMH predating even HIP itself, but apparently in patch 2.6, the AI gained access to the bug. It's fixed already in development and Hades2 is being fast-tracked now largely to fix this, so there's really no need to continue reporting it at this point.
I'm not even able to load up the game with HIP enabled, am getting a crash to desktop before the loading screens. ARGH.
Do I have to have all the DLC to play HIP?
You don't need any DLC to play every module in HIP but CPRplus (which requires all portrait DLCs [enabled], but the installer will safely prevent its installation if it cannot find those DLCs).
I recommend following the steps outlined at the following URL plus the stuff explained above by another user (scroll up until you see big bold text that are clearly instructions):

Then come back to us with your version.txt file and we might be able to help (see the Bug Reports thread's OP for instructions).
