i have an issue where the cursor seems to highlight everything will a little annotation of 'event blah blah blah' and i can't click on any provinces, its a bit odd.
EDIT : reloaded the game, the little annotation of the mouse isn't there any more but i can't actually click to view the holdings of any province.
EDIT 2 : I removed VIET Events and it fixed itself???
Hmm, very weird. Well, the only attention we paid to VIET Events for this compatch was just fixing its localisation file naming schema to work with the [yet again changed] localisation key override behavior with this patch. Could actually be stuff in there that needs a real compatch, but I've no clue what it'd be.
Thanks for this. I was wondering why VIET Events seems to default to no in the install of HIP. Are there any issues/incompatibility?
Mostly just that we don't typically test with it and maintain it as little as possible (e.g., it didn't get any of the performance upgrades that everything else got, because heck if I'm going to wade into that labyrinth of events and optimize them all), so it's got a higher likelihood of wonkiness. Not enough to throw it out of the HIP distribution [yet], but for something like that, we can't by all rights make it a de jure default, so to speak.
EDIT : Also is there any preferred bookmark nowadays? I remember seeing the 1066 william the conqueror was the bookmark to start before. Is it still the case?
Really, 867, 1066, 1081-- these gets lots and lots of play, and they're all fine. But we look at later starts scattered all over for issues, both with setup and the balance and historical outcomes after clicking unpause. Don't be afraid to venture into random dates in the lobby just based upon the thought that there might be a 'preferred bookmark' status, as we don't have one anyone anymore.
Still, that's the one where I can get Just, Kind and Trusting from raiding, right?
And big thanks for the update.
TBH, I've no clue if you get those traits from raiding in VIET Events. I wouldn't think so. Maybe you're thinking of EMF's Siege module, in which there are some very rare events that most never see that might do some interesting stuff-- like running into a child of the local ruling family as he tries to escape after a looting siege to avoid capture (could do a number of naughty or nice or just plain condescending things there).
Raise tribal army decision is active once more, without being mentioned in the changelog I guess it's not intentional.
Converting to spouse/concubine religion decision is nowhere to be seen, neither is converting to liege culture! Rajas of India is active on the lauch screen.
Regarding 'Raise Tribal Army,' yes, we just neglected to stick it in the EMF changelog (I mean, if we actually told you all the stuff we changed from 2.5 to 2.6, it'd be overwhelming and tedious, so we were being selective). We should've, though. It's now designed in such a way that it should not be easy for humans to exploit it. Also, 2.6 added decent AI reasoning for using it too, so no reason not to bring it back-- every criticism that it's ever received has been addressed (e.g., they can't be diverted to looting, there is a cooldown, etc.). [EDIT: Mind you, all those special measures to address its issues were taken by us (Rylock in this case), so it's not addressed in vanilla, unfortunately.]
