HIP or CK+?

I like CK+ because it comes with ancient religions. It's fun to make the world pagan then reconquer it with a ruler-designed Christian or Muslim.
If you don't have the computer to handle SWMH, then probably CK+

I play both. I'd like to think HIP is suited for more "historically accurate" play (as close as you can get in CK2 i guess), whereas CK2+ sacrifices a bit more of the historical accuracy to focus more on gameplay mechanics. Just from my point of view anyway.
This has been stated explicitly by the modders.

But seriously, at least these threads are pretty tame these days. A couple years ago and a topic like this one would've exploded. Today, reason more or less rules, and that's fine by me.
To the OP, I just recommend trying them. Either. Both (not at the same time, though!). They're different sides of the same coin for most of the parts that matter to most anyone that might be asking such a question. It's really difficult to actually answer such a broad question usefully; if what you're interested in is more concrete, then ask away, and we can try to answer.

The real answer is to screw history and have some fun with Dragons and White Walkers in AGOT obviously
What's the problem with asking people what are their favourite mod? That's a good way to know what people like in both mods, and it can help to decide which one to try first.
That's strange, HIP runs quite a bit faster than CK+ (SWMH mini map and CK+ without India) for me. Makes sense, as SWMH should like my somewhat historical rig...
ck2+ because of metling pot cultures, i used to prefer HIP so if they added melting pot cultures i would switch back
But HIP does have melting-pot cultures: English, German, Low German, Anglo-Norse, Norman, Norse-Gael, and Sicilian, from a cursory glance at the files.
anglo norse that's good to know, i was thinking more of things for plausible scenarios, like a crusader culture after many years of rule in holy land etc
