Agreed. But in my examples above, using only one lane offramp merge, the cars would go only 5 car lengths and then merge into the middle lane, blocking the freeway traffic behind them.Personally I think you should avoid using 3-lane highway as ramps. Like in those cloverleaves, with the 5 trucks example, if that section where the trucks are coming from were highway ramp instead, they would only be merging into the right lane, i think.
Indeed, as other have commented; faaaaar too many interchanges on the highway.
Highways are a quick way for traffic to travel a considerable distance, so only have intersections rarely.
I have no merge problems, all three lanes are used on my highways throughout. My intersections are few and far between.
