Well, can your Cims get to their work in time? That's usualy what causes most of these issues.

EDIT: share the save so people can help you. And remember that after 100k pop, traffic starts become an issue and you have to redesign a lot of your worst parts

130000 people does not mean 130000 workers. When cims are in schools, they are not working. Overeducation is not a thing, a working cim will take the best job available, even if it is a low education one.

100% unemployment? or 100% employment.

If you really have 100% unemployment I have a feeling this must be caused by some sort of mod. Are you using any RCI demand mods? or other population/job changing mods?

I'm suspecting you're running 2 mods that are conflicting with each other.

In general, try to avoid installing more mods that tamper with the same mechanics.

I have different mods but I'm not running them at the same time. I turned off all mods except money and it didn't fix it. I think a lot of people are waiting at bus stops but not getting on the bus.

My population rose to 161,000 and my unemployment rate dropped to 46% then my city started to fail again

Wait until you get to 500k pop and then 600k pop. If you think it is challenging at 161k pop you better pour yourself a very very tall one and grow your hair and grow it fast!

Lol are you having similar problems? I want a population that high. Im gonna start the world again. I'm using modded schools and I think since everyone is educated. Only educated jobs are being filled

Population fluctuation since I reached 500k is first inexpiable/without reason and second in the tens of thousands.
I know there will be some who post here that the reason for this is my traffic or roads or this or that and they themselves have yet to get past the 250k population mark. The game you play at a sub 250k population is nothing like the game from 400k and beyond.

What I experienced and the issues I had when I had 70k pop & then 120k pop & again 230k pop pales in comparison to what happens when one reaches beyond 400k. I would lose 2k per week then two weeks later I'm losing 4k in pop then a week later only losing 1k then two weeks later 6k a week after that 8k to 3k etc. etc. etc. all the way up to 10k in pop then back down to 1k. Then for no reason, no changes on my part, nothing happening my population is growing by thousands and thousands per week again.

I went from 530k to 480k back to 520k to 490k to 570k to 520k etc. etc. etc.

I'm currently at 680k and it is so frustrating and UN-FUN bordering on painful to get to this level. I've bounced from 660k to 680k ALL DAY TODAY! A 10 hour play day!

Like I said I had to give up on my first 500k city because I just lost interest due to the fact that the population fluctuations are so massive and so very quick to happen. For no reason at all (no lack of water or sewer or education or jobs or commercial or mass transit etc.) the population fluxes are just unworldly.
According to Steam I have logged in more than 290 or so hours now and I can fix most issues, understand how the game mechanics work, the ebbs and flows but once that 400k/500k population mark is reached all logic goes out the window and the struggle to understand what is happening is simply not there.

I'm not bragging or trying to show off in any manner. It is obvious (to at least me) I know what I am doing and how to do it. I've logged the hours. I've done it all twice now yet it is just getting less and less fun the longer a city survives. At least for me.

Where is tourism? At one point I was spending more than $20k per week in tourism; airports, parks, buildings, assets etc. and the most amount of tourists I had in the city at one time was 154. It makes no fiscal sense to even attempt tourism. It did not work when I had 75k population it is even more devastating when the population rises and rises. Planes arriving and taking off with zero cims.

IMHO, the devs have a lot and I mean a lot to flush out of this game to make it run properly at all levels of population. I read so many posts here from folks and they post that they have 25k or 45k or 18k those issues may very well multiple by thousands if not tens of thousands like it did me. Then who does one turn to? I'm supposed to ask someone who has a population of 25k who has logged 38 hours for answers?

My opinion is after one reaches 400k population then 500k pop then 600k pop should there really be any questions/issues that can't be explained/solved?
My opinion is after one reaches 75 hours of play, then 150 hours of play then 225 hours then 290 hours of play; should there really be questions/issues that can't be explained/solved?

I think it's more coupled with the short life span of the cims. They move in/get born, live their lives, and die (becomes more visible by zoning large chunks).

Could have something to do with the way the deathcare works. I would assume that normally the spikes would even out because even if say 1000 people die at the same time, they should be getting picked up over a period of time, so the spike should be smaller but more spread out the next cycle. Maybe something is working a bit iffy there, making sure that the spikes remain.

Maybe you've got so many hearses covering your city that the spikes don't get spread out.

Not sure, just doing some mind experiments with what I know about how the simulation works.

Every time I have looked my births are higher than deaths. Granted I don't track it every single second however every single time I look births are more than deaths. It has been that way for a long long long time. As a matter of fact I doubt I've ever had more deaths than births. I do appreciate your trying to help and I know you know what you are talking (typing) about as I have read your posts for a long time.

ReginaRC:
Moving out why?
The 3% crime rate is too high?
The 100% educated cims?
The 3% fire rate too high?
Never losing power or water?
100% daily trash removal?
$82 - $84 land value rate?
98% of EVERY street having bus service?
99% residential happiness?
99% office happiness?
99% industry happiness?
78% commercial happiness? (No matter what I do this number never rises over 80 or 81)
0 sick cims? (I just turned the game on and amazingly I have ZERO sick sims with 680k cims? That is not a bug? Seriously?)
The sheer lack of traffic?
No lizards, earthquakes, zombies, (I forget the other moronic disaster in SC)

If cims are moving out then that has got to be another bug, wouldn't it be? If not then what is the reason? There would have to be a reason wouldn't there be?
IRL I understand moving out of Detroit, a worn torn city, 1906 San Francisco but that is not what is happening here.

My population went from 117k to 103k to 131k to 117k to 161k then to 148k. Do I have to let the game run that long to see progress? I have a mod for 100% demand so people should just move in constantly
