While you are waiting for the official patch, allow me to reveal a hidden cheat in Rome:VV... Arranged Marriages. If you would like to turn off automatic character marriages, it is actually possible. Just type "marriages" in the console. After that, you must select spouses for your characters yourself. Just click the character portrait in the family tree (in the Dynasty View, the one next to "Spouse".) Note that this cheat is saved in your settings, so arranged marriages will still be turned on if you reload the game.

Now, there is a reason why this is a hidden feature. It's a debug cheat that I added at some point after release, so the interface is a bit clunky. Also, I would only recommend it with the latest beta patch. Enjoy!

I, personally, love the micro-management of my "main characters". I often think of each game of EU Rome I play as a book or movie, where I choose my main "cast". I find it very satisfying to watch these characters develop over time and I'm always wishing for more ways to tailor my characters to my needs. If anything, I'd at least like to be able to arrange marriages for my Ruler and Heirs.

Doomdark, is there a way that an "Arcade" mode (like HOI3) could be implemented into Rome, so that micro-management would be cut, for those who prefer not to get so involved?

Like I say, I love to fine tune everything in my empires, so it's great for me.

There isn't that much microing in Rome afterall, the most timeconsuming one is to set up titles in republics to make sure that the wrong people don't go populist and sort out traderoutes, else I think it is alot lighter than most Paradox titles.

Roleplaying, which I tend to do alot when playing Rome, will always be more demanding on the microing side, but atleast this is alot better than me editing the savegame myself as soon as I find something amiss

I would be in favor of it if it was limited to the "main" characters, sort of how you can only initiate marriages in your own dynasty in CK. Otherwise, it will become too time-consuming...

IMO, Rome is about internal politics and characters that live in your country. At least the ruler's (close) family should be able to arrange marriages.

Huh. I nooticed something in the code (while checking the existence of some event coding) a while back about arranged marriages, I was actually going to post a question about it but figured it was nothing. Damn, going to have to give it a go!

As for making it a regular feature, I think it would be best to only be able to control the marriages of your ruler's family. Or, maybe have a few options:
1. Arrange all marriages.
2. Arrange ruler family marriages.
3. Automatic marriages.

That would be neat

Doom, in general, I've heard that the main criticism of Rome is that there is not enough stuff to do. Some additional micro, if anything, would be welcome.
