First, I started building IC as the USSR and the USA. "Everybody does it, so no big deal".

Every time I changed to war laws and got the IC high I built more and more. "Planes, tanks, Mech and ships are sexier that grunts with guns anyways"

Then I built IC for Germany "I can easily beat Poland and France with what I build at the last second + my starting forces"

Now, I have built IC as GB, France, Italy and Japan.

I mean, even Italy and Japan start with crappy construction practicals. But I always want to know how far I can push it.

I´m just looking for the next IC high

I think IV will handle it better. You actually have incentive to build up forces immediately instead of IC spam

Japan has good practicals, and should start spamming carriers from day one, in order to compete with the USA.

I have done it as Nat China so pfft! Though really as China fighting the USSR, you wind up mass building infrastructure so you get the practicals anyway. Plus, you have a long period between when you defeat Japan and actually go to war with the SU (or at least I did...), which is a good time to build up since you have resources aplenty from allied lands and Japan.

And speaking of practicals... oh man do they make IC addictive. It's like 2.25 IC and 168 days... just think of how fast it pays off! So fast! I can't stop myself. Even if my metal stockpile is going to run out in less than a year...

I can't and won't talk about CHI, which I have never seriously played, you're the King of that in this thread.

However, I have tried, twice now with JAP building decent IC, and it just seems neither easy, nor worth it.

I was surprised when I saw how much more you managed to build as CHI (over 400 AFAIR) than I did with JAP. I could hardly break the 300 limit, despite having almost the same conquests than you did : whole China, whole Pacific, whole India, Persia, Afghanistan, I even snuck into the Med to snatch Greece from ITA (only the capital province actually, Athina, because it had that IC I so much needed!!).

Maybe was it the mods I played with too, and the difficulty settings, I wouldn't know, but comparatively playing as GER (same mod, same settings) buiding up IC is a complete breeze : I reached 650+ before I stopped (after Bitter Peace).

Over 400, yes, but not over 400 base (base is like 270ish most recently). Meanwhile, GER, my supposed ally, is swimming in metal according to the politics screen but won't trade me any. Boo.

It's not clear to me how much resources china generates vs Japan - remember that China has cores on all the minors + manchukuo and Taiwan. Of course Japan has cores on Korea, too. Definitely seems like the limiting factor is metal, which I stockpiled a crazy amount of before I got serious about building up IC... and I do get a decent amount traded to me.

It's not even clear that I need to resist really, since the USSR will get conquered sooner or later. Definitely worth doing overall though, given China's pathetic tiny starting IC and all the conquest resources flowing in..

So you build more IC because it will pay off faster, and then your practical is even higher

And then you run out of resources but thats what console commands exist for.

There is nothing like cranking entire fleets at a time while your competition barely scraps some ships every other year.

I tell myself, you know, at 2.25 and 168 days or whatever... and 1.75 IC actual/IC base it pays off in... 7 months! I'll stop building when I've won the war . (Realistically, I'm trying to dial it down).

BTW, as practicals go, is better to stagger the builds or just build one huge chunk at once?

How long have you been addicted to IC?

Did you take it up because you felt empty? depressed? or just plain bored?

PM me if you need help overcoming this dangerous addiction, capable of controlling your soul and life. But do not give up hope my friend! There are many alternatives to take instead of this self destructive path that you are heading on. Just think about it, when you are IC high and it slowly comes down, do you feel the need to keep on rushing IC? If so, your tolerance might be too much and you need to lay off the IC. I can recommend that you focus for a while on producing military units instead of searching for your next IC high. It will be worth it in the end; you will feel better after a while and hopefully, you can carry on with your wargaming life like before you tried the IC.

Oh guys. I was at 500 IC. I was so high. But I ran out of metal. Now I'm at like 310 IC.

I don't know what to do with myself. I thought about starting another run... I mean with all the infra I'm building the practicals are so high, it costs like 2 IC each now.... but....

I've heard that shock therapy can be useful when dealing with such compulsions. But, that can be expensive.
A cheaper alternative is to purchase a cheap roofing hammer. Then, every time you get the urge to IC splurge, crush a toe or finger with said hammer.
