1. when you choose the MP option on your EU2 start screen, do i press the internet or valkyrienet button?

2. is the correct ip address crucial to play?

3. whent comes to patches, do i just have to download the latest one (1.09, i guess) which i just did or do i have to download them all in order to play? If i have to download them all where do I find them because the only one posted on this forum that i could find is the 1.09?

4. can i just join a random game or do i have to look at the specific times posted on this site to join in? how easy is it to join in? do people disciminate against new players?

5. just how big is this game? how many players are online at a given time playing this?


I've had this game since it came out and have been playing it quite often in SP mode. i also had the first one. I finally decided to join in into the MP mode and feel like i'm so far behind everyone else in here. I'm sorry if some of these questionasound stupid but i just need some help signing on. I guess the first step is probably to join this forum which i just did. i need somebody to walk me through the signing up/in stage.

1. If you pick internet, you'll have to manually fill in the hosts IP, if you choose Valkyrienet you'll be brought to a lobby were you can chat and arrange games...

2.Only if you connect via IP, else there's no need to use an IP-adress

3. Only the latest, but if you have already installed patches, it's reccomended to reinstall EU2 before patching.

4. Most games on these boards are organised, you can find info in the gamethreads, as a 'noob' you won't be getting any major nation to start with (like France/England) and you'll most likely start out as a minor (Portugal/Netherlands). People don't usually discriminate against new players but some are instead helpfull and will even give you advice while playing.

5. All depends on the hosts capabilities, most games have around 9-11 players...

If you want, you could fill in as a sub in our game (Tides of Darkness) as some players are going away for the next weeks. Just ask for information in our gamethread.

Get ICQ, talk to some players and youll know what to do .

Compared to other big strategy games, this community isnt very large. For the game's age though and for the complexity it entails, i think its surprisingly vital . Cant give you an exact figure on number of active players, but there always join in new people, while some leave. Since its the summer holidays, not that many games are run, but usually youll see at least one or two a day, every day of the week.
The only really old ones currently active or semi-active would be me, cheech, drake and some of the NA players. You note these out for their extreme arrogance and grumpyness.

Get ICQ and post your number. People will contact you and stuff and theyll give you info on how its all done .

And yeah, it seems like the word "Duke" is quite popular. There have been quite alot of them by now. People have to call you "kill" or something instead .
EDIT: Whoa, "Debbie" is perfect! That one never joined the community for real, so the nick is open.
