Hey custodians, how about some ancient aquatic evil locked away under an ice world?

The new Aquatic DLC is exciting and long requested. We don't really know yet what it'll include. But it inspires a lot of science fiction ideas. I think this one is ripe for stellaris.

We've wondered about under ice ocean worlds like Europa and Enceladus ever since we discovered they held water locked deep beneath the ice. Stellaris is populated with many 'frozen worlds' and an event about life under the ice. With Aquatic species we have a new possibility for 'civilizations' coming around the corner and it's the perfect setting for a mid game crisis type empire.

So what if there was a frozen world that your scientists could discover has a thriving advanced civilization living deep beneath it off its hydrothermal vents. The species has been locked under the ice for its entire existence and perhaps never even found a reason to look beyond it... until your scientists came knocking. It's the perfect setting for an extremely advanced empire to spawn, crack the ice permanently and unleash the technologies they've silently developed for millenia on the galaxy. Shake up the galactic map with a brand new empire somewhere between the power of a fallen empire and the great khan.

An alternative could be a giant Cthulhuesque monster cracking through the ice too.
