My skyrim hopes were dashed..........

not by the game....

but by a serious car accident I got into this morning. =( my fault, grudgingly. IMHO if you get blinded by the sun, and your first instinct is to slam on the brakes and come to a stop in the fast lane of an interstate, it should be your fault that you end up causing 4 cars behind you to all slam into each other at 70mph. sadly I was the first car to slam into the guy, the other 2 slammed into each other after veering into the median and just missed clipping my back end, thereby guaranteeing my fault for the first rear end. total bummer. im gonna need that 59.99 as little as it might help. All entertainment/ luxury buying is on hold =(.

Whats left of my car =(

I've always found Bethesda has more bugs on PC than consoles.

Because Bethesda made consoles (or rather the Xbox 360) their main focus platform quite some time ago.... PC stability and polish seems to be much more of a afterthought after they've spent a crap ton of cash ensuring they've taken the latest technology they could drum together and than bastardised the living heck out of it to run on console specifications. :p

Personally if I were to come up with a slogan for Bethesda for the last 4-5 years or so it would be "Investing your money on pushing the boundary of average further for you".

Fortunately for Bethesda current game standards seem to really promote such decisions when games are less "Good" but rather "Good compared to the rest of the crap being released at the same time".

When I lived in Texas I had an RX8, but I didn't have the title. Just an un-notarized bill of sale. So, no liscense plate, right? Wrong! I bought a new 30-day temporary tag every month for two years. :p

If they so choose, but no it's not necessary. The back is the norm. Canada does the front usually at least from the Canadian license plates that I see in Michigan.

It depends on province here. In Ontario both front and back are required (which explains why you see it in Michigan), but here in western Canada only the back is necessary.

Anyone else having the pure joy (read: sarcasm) of trying to install Skyrim off of the DVD? I mean, hello! It's on the bloody DVD! Why the F! does Steam want to download the whole game??

Trying the work around, seems the Steam installer decided to only install half the game and now wants to download the rest of it. Like SoTS II - don't people test installers / releases before they actually, you know, release them? Aaaaarg!

Then you get fun situations like one I had a few years back where I bought a vehicle in a no-front plate state, moved, and didn't notice til after I moved to the front plate required state that the front bumper on my new car wasn't drilled for a front plate at ALL. :/ Anywho, sorry about the wreck, and its consequences on your skyrim joy. But in the meantime, I'm off to install my shinny new copy and keeping my fingers crossed.

So a friend cheered me up and got my skyrim out of pity today! yay!

here is my experience so far...

Balls.

I'm curious how he heard and why he would but that's great.

However, I don't mean to sound rude, but I feel that all of us, myself included probably have some pretty terrible things in our lives (save for a few lucky ones) and so us getting all upset over a car accident where no one is really hurt and which is honestly low on the scale of terrible things that has probably happened in our daily or current or annual lives... is probably not all that "fair" or really even logical.

I'm glad you're enjoying Skyrim (which is really just another game to me that'll last 3 days until I beat it and move on) and not hurt from the crash, but I don't think these are the things that should be posted on here to be honest.

Come on, you don't want to hear about how my best friend recently tried to actually kill me because he thought I did something that I didn't. Nor do you want to know about how he told me in loving details just how he'd do it and how my body would vanish.

We all have TERRIBLE things in our lives and for mine? That's just the start and I imagine others have more or less similar terrible things happen to them and I just don't feel it's the right place to put it on this thread because you either get others who say it or you get a lot of sympathy that makes little sense in the first place and can make others feel worse.

Did your friends threat have anything to do with you playing skyrim? Then nope, don't care to hear it, I would be in a death threat thread if I did. And that's the difference. Sunfighters post did have to do with him not being able to pick up skyrim, so was thread appropriate, and while it has spun off a side conversation, that's simply the nature of forums/the nets.

Let's not forget this thread is in the official SOTS II forum.

Being about Skyrim doesn't really fly.

My point was not to iterate something that happened, it was to iterate that no one either cares or wants to know about it.

Finally got it working after some driver tweeks! By all accounts, make sure FXAA is enabled, it will tax a smaller system, but it gets rid of the weird jagges around all the trees and grasses. Dunno if its just an Geforce problem or not, but the shadows are really subpar, even with ultra settings. Its an awesome game though. Really enjoying it. Always finding a new way to die. Got a few mods in mind already.

PS Azonalanthious, just ignore Delsana, theyve seem to have taken up the job of the forum person with the stick up the you know what 24/7.

Oh, he doesn't bother me, just had time to kill so commented. Glad to hear you got it running though. I'm debating on mine... it runs really jerky on this computer (my labtop) even on the lowest settings, and unfortunately, I don't have access to my tower right now. Might take it back to best buy and exchange it for the 360 version, though I here there are graphics problems with that one at the moment. Still quite enjoying it though.
