Personally, I think Fallout 3 is much better than 1 or 2 when it comes to immersion. Of course, that might be greatly influenced by the graphics, but even when the older Fallouts (great games still) were fresh and new, I felt them to be too abstracted and superficial when it came to presentation, lore and general immersion.

Immersion!? FO1&2 Breaks the 4th wall repeatedly in fun ways. FONV I great. I rushed through the main story on my first char, and did only a fraction of sidequest, but at the time it felt like many, there's stuff everywhere.

Well reading the Bethesda forums right now, it looks like Skyrim is buggy as well. Some people can play it, a few others can't. So I am guessing the Bethesda forums will be crashing down tomorrow. :p

There's never been a Bethesda game that wasn't buggy at release. They always fix them up too, but the best experience is always to be had after the first couple patches and a few mods. My copy is still somewhere between England and my country, but when I pre-ordered it I knew that there'd likely be some time before I can fully enjoy the game.

I don't fully understand threads like this one, though. It's the SotS2 forum, and the games aren't even of the same genre. And really, don't most people buy a bunch of games every year?

I don't think Fallout 1 or 2 had much thought towards immersion. Way too much humor and silliness for true immersion.

Fallout 3 was better on immersion but didn't make a whole lot of sense. New Vegas seems to have gotten just about everything right though.

I'll probably play that for 3 days until I've beaten it satisfactorily.

Do some beta testing for SWTOR, play ACreed III Revelations for a day, and then finish the campaign for Modern Warfare 3. Oh, I'll go through Halo Anniversary as well.

Then we'll go from there.

---

No, I hated Fallout Vegas, 3 was good with Anchorage and Broken Steel though.

Don't know why anyone likes the crap that was New Vegas and its crap DLC.

I just finished the pre-load for Skyrim. Tomorrow I will try it out. I have had more success with Bethesda then most other games, so looking forward to this game a lot. Will it have bugs, problems, content that I would have done differently; sure it will. But having the ability to mod the game to my specification is a serious bonus for me. I will check back and see how SOTSII is doing in a few weeks. I might be able to play the game then.

I've never been much of a mod guy. I like some of the flavor mods in some of my strategy games, but for Bethesda's stuff i've always left it untouched. Honestly i'd be lying if I told you I completed even half of the total content in Morrowind or Oblivion. And Skyrim looks to be the biggest yet.. Really comes down to user reviews. Xbox360 is showing it's age compared to a higher-end PC these days, and Skyrim looks purty enough to buy for PC just for that. Unless the reviews clearly show that the console version is better optimized somehow.

Basicly, if you wanna play bethesda game, you need the mods for game to be what it was supposed to be. Vanilla Oblivion= pure shit, vanilla fallout 3= pure shit. At least mods got them going right, beginning from so fucking annoying console inventories.

Might as well forget the swtor beta testing if you have played wow before. Its same with star wars skins and nothing new. I jizzed in my pants when i got the beta invite while ago but were utterly disappointed.

And graphics in skyrim are pretty much same as oblivion due the consoles being underpowered.

Do you think so? Google "skyrim vs oblivion" and you will find many comparison shots. Granted, most might be of favourable lighting, motive and perspective for Skyrim, but I think it is very clear which one has the better graphics. The engine might be the same (I don't know), but that does not mean much.

My skyrim hopes were dashed..........

not by the game....

but by a serious car accident I got into this morning. =( my fault, grudgingly. IMHO if you get blinded by the sun, and your first instinct is to slam on the brakes and come to a stop in the fast lane of an interstate, it should be your fault that you end up causing 4 cars behind you to all slam into each other at 70mph. sadly I was the first car to slam into the guy, the other 2 slammed into each other after veering into the median and just missed clipping my back end, thereby guaranteeing my fault for the first rear end. total bummer. im gonna need that 59.99 as little as it might help. All entertainment/ luxury buying is on hold =(.

Whats left of my car =(

im not too injured. Just a couple cuts. one deep enough for stitches, but im a doctor, so i did it myself back at my house. yay for saving money! The guy I hit was having back stiffness, not surprising after getting a 4000lb car up the end at 70mph. Though with back stiffness, you never know. Could be anything, could be nothing. I made sure he stayed still. He was walking around by the end of it and didnt need an ambulance so crossing my fingers with that..

The guy seemed pretty straight and decent, but im the USA, so you never know when that nice guy will turn into a guy looking for a pot of gold in the legal system is going to show up and sue you for everything under the sun, especially in these economic times.. So im in horde all cash mode. While I admit its my fault that i hit him stopped in the left lane, still seems kinda boneheaded to stop in the left lane. I can understand "AH sun! im blind!" part, everybody did that, I just dont get the slam on the brakes part. Youre just supposed to let off the gas and let the car coast down or at the very most lightly use the brakes, like everybody was doing behind me. There was nobody in front of him which is great news cause he didnt plow into anybody else in front of him after i kissed him. If there was I could of forgiven him for being stopped and would of taken responsibility totally. Right now im talking it grudgingly. Mostly on the fact im not sure of the law at this point. Im using the rear end your fault idea here. Though im wondering if there is anything for stopped cars without cause (aka cars stopped in front) in lanes of traffic in blinding conditions that maybe worth looking into at the very least.

As to the people behind me, no major injuries. And great dodging by the guy behind me to avoid me, the girl behind him wasnt so lucky though and smashed into him as he was dodging me. I was impressed and dismayed at the same time lol. But like you guys said, no major injuries (so far). Everybody walked away by the looks of it. Good News out of a bad thing. The guys car i hit was totaled for sure. 2002 Ford Taurus probably worth 5K or so would be my guess. Considering his trunk is now approx where his back seat should be, yea..i say thats a goner. My car likely gone too, but we will see. Still blue books around 21K, the damage looks pretty severe though to the passenger side. Im fully insured, full coverage. So its all good i am hoping minus them raising my rates out the butt or just dropping me entirely.

Whoa! For 70 mph, everything turned out relatively mild. Even your car doesn't look as bad as I thought a car would after an accident like that. Glad to hear you're okay, even though I don't know you.

Im kinda guessing its due to the fact i didnt nail him perfectly, I pulled hard to the median to try to avoid him, but just ended up clipping the passenger front to his driver rear. The old Ford Taurus cars have very large trunk space. So a lot of energy was wasted compacting his trunk into his rear seat. Then you have to consider my car is heavy for a car. 4000lbs+, with a very large engine (6.0 liter). Its a battle axe up front, you dont want to run into it in the front thats for sure. I also think the wheel may of played a part too in reducing the impact, The front bumper and supports were destroyed on impact, the tire then was the contact point after that, and being rubber, and flexible somewhat (aka why the wheel is bent to the side and shoved backwards towards the car) makes me think it also helped reduce the damage (at least to my car). Still...its gonna need a ton of work if not totaled.

Have to join in the choir Sunfighter, sad to hear about your accident but glad you and the others involved escaped relatively unscathed. Hits especially close to home for me since a close relative recently had a freak accident at 100mph, fortunately both of them came out ok as well.

Thanks for the concern all. I had the pick of the litter tonight on the rental car lot, mustangs, camaros, navigators, couple altimas, and since im considered at fault for this one, ive punished myself by getting the crappiest car imaginable. A Chevy Aveo. My knees hit the steering wheel with the seat all the way back. This is going to be a very uncomfy 2 weeks. at least. on the bright side im paying a grand total of 59 dollars for it for 2 weeks lol.
