Not by any agreement, no. But it appears that the equipment is now in different countries. :D

A follow-up question, since Tulp will probably ask it sooner or later -- which major combat ships were in Tilapia and St. Esprit at the time of the secession, and thus are presumably in foreign hands now?

Most, if not all of them, as we haven't seen any maneuvers or exercises since the failed attempt to intercept what turned out to be arms smugglers.

I haven't matched up which ships are at which bases, but that could be a good and very helpful project for anyone interested in earning some GM Karma. ;)

Is the WET a province under the new constitution? Theres no explicit mention about that.

And how will the provincal elections work, and can we run NPC candidates (Thorsbeard for Chancellor of WET, or is it P?)

To follow up Melancthon's answer, let us say that the WET "OFFICIALLY" joins Eutopia as a state, as provided for in the new Constitution, on Day One of Term IX, right after these elections. That way you have time to design flags, etc, and celebrate your entrance into the the UPE. :)

This is consistent with SCHEDULE B: TRANSITON REGULATIONS Art. B1. of the new constitution. (See the thread for more details) :)

Your pm request is being discussed by the GM. I'll get back to you once we've made a decision. Of course, if you want a pm desperately, I can send you one - it just won't contain much that will be useful. :p

More generally, don't expect the GM to always reply immediately to requests or submissions; we often need to discuss those among ourselves to begin with, which takes time. In addition, we *do* have a ton of other things to do as well, especially at the moment. You may have noticed that you're not the only one trying to set up things for E3. ;)

The FAQ states that "Once some players have shown an interest in joining, post an application at the CRO office. If the GM feel there is sufficient interest, and provided the party/ organization is sufficiently different from ones that already exist, they will allow you to formally set up the party or organization in question."

The CRO will be the approval mechanism not only for parties but also for organizations, correct? Not to get too nitpicky (ah, hell, let's be honest - to be completely nitpicky), the Constitution says the CRO is "responsible for overseeing the citizen registry, as well as conducting federal referenda and federal (presidential and parliamentary) elections."

Perhaps there should be an "Office for Corporate Governance" that could handle applications for groups and organizations. Some sort of organizational charter, along with names of interested parties, would be submitted.

This way, the CRO can contain all the info on active parties, while the OCG can have info on active organizations.

As a last note, I finally know, thanks to Steven Jay Gould, the source for Melanchthon's name. Alas my poor American education; they just don't teach us European history very well.

Nitpick away. :D

Keeping it separate might be a good idea. Routing all applications through the CRO office is a bit of a short term solution, since it was the quickest fix to set it up that way yesterday (when people were looking for a way of submitting formal in-game applications). So, there may be some change to that when the GM have a minute. :)

So, I didn't get response to these when I put them into OOC thread by accident, so here we go:

How far participation should follow internal logics in smaller matters? Say, if I am student in Neuwestbaden, I doubt I would be regular of a cafe or a bar in some other city. So is it preferable by the majority / GMs to have players play in multitude of places regardless of internal logic or only places that seem like logical places for your character to frequent in?

I also assume that Town Hall as a sticky and all is not subject to such internal logic in having discussions.

I guess I can start a thread about a place my character would be frequenting in, but is owned by NPCs? Say if I'd like to have thread about the student cafe in ETI, I could start one, right?

In my experience, location -- like time -- is something we tend to ignore as inconvenient, unless there are legitimate reasons not to (e.g. the entire arrest-of-Zucker sequence of events at the end of Term 7.)

Like The_Hawk said, space is almost as flexible as time in Eutopia. There are some exceptions depending on the concrete circumstances: e.g., if your character has been imprisoned, s/he can obviously not pop up in other places. Same thing if s/he is on an official high-profile mission abroad, incapacitated in hospital, lost in the iwlderness without a map, or abducted by aliens (well, maybe that's covered by "high-profile missions" :D). Things of that nature. :)

You can start a place like that, but you cannot specify or control the NPCs that own or run it. E.g., opening the thread by saying "Dropped by the student cafe at ETI again today; thought the food was horrible as always" would be fine; "Magda, one of the cafe owners, snickered when she saw me; she obviously hadn't forgotten the porridge incident" wouldn't.

Mel,

Could you please clarify what one must do to officially achieve recognition as a non-party organization? My sense from heag was that I could just go ahead and start up a thread once I'd achieved an adequate amount of support, but rereading the rules suggests that I need CRO approval (which of course makes little sense in context -- why would the Chief Registration Officer need to sign off on my formation of an agency of civil society?)

Anyway, after today I'm a little edgy about scuffing up the brand new, still-shiny Eutopia by throwing up a new thread, and potentially -- as you put it so eloquently elsewhere a moment ago -- peeing on the carpet. ;)

See README Q 41. For the moment, the rules applying to organizations are the same that apply to parties. See Voshkod's post on the CRO/OCG above, though, as well as my response. :)

Sending a pm for GM-approval was the correct procedure when you sent it, so you are good to go (since you did get said approval :)). The whole CRO-thing became part of the rule in question only later, so it doesn't apply to this specific request.

Oy. Umm... *fidgets* Tax purposes (charity registration)? :D

Essentially, it's just one of those things where RL and in-game stuff overlap. :)

If I want to have a private conversation in an otherwise public thread, is it acceptable to label the post "PRIVATE" or something of that sort? Or should I create a Private thread for that discussion.

The concrete example is this: I've created the law firm thread, which is open. If I want to talk with a client on matters that might be private, I'd prefer to do it there then to clutter up the forums with a Private Office thread.

Thanks

Vl

Yes! That would be VERY helpful! Thanks.

The fate of property has not been decided by the Tilapians and St. Espritians. At this point, no change has occurred. For example: Michael Lundgren still owns his Sports Bar, but it is now a foreign property.

With all sorts of new rules/regulations that could be created to govern trade between the two nations, it could be too much of a hassle to keep the property and he may wish to sell it. It could be that Tilapia tries to seize it. All things are possible. But this seems like it would be an important issue for the new government of Eutopia (when it is elected :D) to address.

Right now all of these personal and government properties are "in disupute". ;)

Right now all of these personal and government properties are "in disupute". ;)
If you give me your e-mail adress I'll send the file to ya :)
I assume that matters like debt are also not yet decided upon?
