Why even start as Texas then? Regarding Texas though, it definatly needs more cores in the game, particularly on eastern New Mexico and possibly Oklahoma City. the amount of control Texas asserted over these territories is disputable but the Texans did consider them as much of a core as Germany would consider Alsace-Lorraine.

Also if you do plan on playing Texas I'll give some advice.

1) Unless you have some serious skills try to white peace with Mexico ASAP. If you think you can fight Mexico and take back your cores then you should have enough rank to colonize Oklahoma. If not go to #2.
2) Set your NF to immigration to get more pops that will assimilate fairly easily.
3) Medicine first and then get the RP techs and military techs.
4) Bide your time until you have enough military techs to make up for your inferior numbers and attack Mexico.
5) Take New Mexico, Nevada-Utah and California from Texas. By doing so you secure all the important mexican states north of the border and Arizona can be taken later. Dont worry about BB as the US will have sphered you by now.
6)Wait for the Confederacy to break away and then attack for Louisiana and maybe Arkansas or Oklahoma. I'd wait on which you choose though because the Warscore is enormous for Louisiana and the US will take all the high WS provinces. Make sure to mad rush through the US to Richmond. Without Richmond this becomes nearly impossible. (note this and step 5 can be swapped)
7) Build up your industry while you cool off from all the bad boy.
8) When the timing is right and you feel you have enough military force, and BB below the limit, get out of the US sphere to maximize your own industry.
9) Become a bamf and go apepoop on the US. Do not border the UK until you are ready to take them on full force.
10) Voila Texan States of America.
11) If the UK attacks, force release Canada and sphere Canada.

(I choose to ignore the Navy but it might be useful to build ships to defend the Gulf of Mexico from potential Containment wars.)

Note: Only immigrant pops will assimilate quickly. Dixie and American pops in conquered States take forever and Mexican is accepted so getting the Western territories quickly is advised.

Texas is the Bar of Vicky 2. It's impossible to play as them, and it should be. Seriously if Texas could beat both Mexico and the USA, this game would be broken.

But...but..but Texas DID beat Mexico and they took bits of New Mexico to boot. Whether they took control of in-game Mexican Texas is disputable because both parties disputed over the boundary even after the war.

I was thinking playing as texas and wondered if i dexide to join usa will that be game over for me or will i be able to continue playing as usa ?

Keep playing as Texas, if you've lost your entire army against Mexico after the War of Independence, don't worry, Texas in the 1840's is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Just set your national focuses to Immigration and Recruitment and you'll be fine, oh and to get extra industry, Take land from South America and Africa when you get stronger, and when the United States does Manifest Destiny, go to war with Mexico and annex a few territories, you won't even have to lift a finger

The U.S does all work for you. Same with ACW, Declare War on the C.S.A and get some extra territories for yourself. Texas, if done right, can have a monster Industry score. I'm currently #6 GP as Texas and able to recruit over 700 brigades...

I've never had to take non-American territory to up my Industrial score. Its actually been farily high even now when my nation has fallen apart due to high War exhaustion and my armies rebelling en masse a Pan-Nationalists, Anarcho-Liberals, Confederate Nationalists, Communists and Reactionaries. I attacked Mexico before I was ready with a Acquire State CB and their initial push was too much, and by the time I pushed them back my WE was too high. I got Arizona but was never able to recover. Held on for 20 years until the Anarcho-liberals overran me, Confederates ceded and then the US declared war.

Thanks for all the replays and looks like i will give Texas a try to become the evil overlord of america then.

I do believe you mean benevolent liberator from the unjust tyranny of the Republican Party.

Note: Biggestissue you will have is getting a Texan pop to move to Lubbock and Mexican Texas. If not the majority of your immigrant will not assimilate. I'm still not sure how to influence one of my Texan pops to move. If anybody has advice.
