Hello

I have problems with my first attempt editing a savegame file.
When i try to save (a copy of) the edited files with my word copy, it saves them in a different format from the savegames: i do not know how to alter a savegame and make the game recognize it as a file of its:
how can i do that?

HELP!

The AAR of my attempt:

It is the fist time i happen to want to use the cheat codes and to have the game perform as i need:

i wished that my installed version of CK (1.04) made peace between my vassals and the infidels when i did, and i had to do strange reloads as my vassals to get peaces.

That was until i had the bad idea of appointing archobishops.
Now i cannot load as them without altering some files; as i was forced to, i decided to be direct:
the problem was that i wanted peace for my vassals, i had to try to force it on the programme.

Well, something more, yes: changing from primary title as the king of Naples to king of Italy, just to have a different shield from the french one.
I read the thread on how to change the primary title, and did as it says.

Then i cancelled all of the ongoing wars from the list;
then i altered the lastpeace dates of all the warring peoples i cancelled the wars to (both vassals, allies and foes)

Then i tried to save all of this, and it does save in a different format.
As i asked in the upper part of this thread:

how can i edit the savegame file and save it in a manner that the game will recognize?

And by the way: if you had to simulate a peace treaty altering the savefile, would you add anything to what i did do?

Thank you so much for the help!!

And when the save the saved game file, when you have modified it with wordpad save it as follows

"Nameofsavedgame.eug"

That way it is saved as a file that the game recognizes as a CK saved game file

Do not use word. Word corrupts everything it touches. Use a plaintext editor like Notepad instead.

Yeah, this is the main problem. Always use plaintext editing any of Pdox's files.

Hello!

Thanks everybody, it works!

I just had a problem with a crush to desktop if, to the war endings and to the principal title swapping, i add a list of thirty truces in the relations part of the savegame (along with the other truces, the marriages and the alliances).

I tried to add a truce between all of the countries that went to peace because of my editfile.
I wonder if that's because of a date problem (maybe lastpeace in the country section and the truce date must not coincide).
Or it may be something with that has to do with a religions problem (truces between different are possibles, though).
Or maybe it has to do with the position of that information about the truces in the savegame file.
I have no idea.

But thank to you, i'm here shouting like the Young Frankenstein......

"SSiiiiii.....
Puòòòòò......
FFFFFFAREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"

(it can be done, in the italian version of the film).

Thank you so much, i'm happy like a little boy with a new toy on christmas morning.

Bye!
