Help with naval invasions

I'm trying to do a naval invasion. Basically a D-Day in France as the USA. When I activate the naval invasion button it tells me the coastal French areas are not available to invade, of course I can invade Britain, my own ally. What am I missing to invade France (or any other Axis held area)?

Please provide a screenshot of your invasion orders and of the tooltip that says you are not able.

Here it is-My mouse was hovering over the Normandy coast. The blue arrow is a British invasion plan.

You have to select the invasion source in the first step. That is one of your ports, or an allied port.
Left click it.
Then, in the second step, you select the invastion destination. (Right mouse click)
