Help with loading. I can't load the map, progress bar stuck at the end

Hello again.

When I load any scenario, with any country, the game progress bar for the loading stops at its end and never load the world map. I don't see any error message.
I run DH 1.05.1 with IC 1.05 alpha 2.

I tried to run the game normally.
I tried with admin rights.
I tried win8 compatibility.

Same results all the time.
Does anyone know that bug? What more information can I provide more to help?

OFFHAND i say you most likely have an error....in my set up of dh i too dont see error messages till i bring up the task manager (dh is on a win7 pc for me).....anyway if you go to the main DH files and open it up and scroll down you see a file call SAVEBUG....open it up and at the bottom of the page it will list errors if any that stopping the game loading...but off hand i say your installation is wrong.....

Hello again.
Thanks for the tip. I haven't found anything as a clue that could indicate an error. I erased the file and relaoded a game so the file only contains the latest info.

hard for me to say what the issue is....while a save game that crashes while loading will produce a bug report with the error...sometimes just starting the game crash wont. THERE are a few questions i going to ask please dont be insulted.

did you install the right version of iron cross for dh.....the installer does ask you what version you want to install...ho2 or AOD or DH...it easy to install wrong version

are you trying to install ironcross which you got from gamesgate onto dh which you got from steam. AS far as i know steam doesnt sale IRON CROSS....in fact no one does now and it was sold only by gamersgate. ITS not unlikely IC(non-steam) running on DH (STEAM) WILL CAUSE issues with steam not allowing the game to boot up.

when IC was first released it also had a bootup/crash problem that was solved by the first patch. are YOU sure you applied the patches for IC . MAYBE might worth it to install patch 1.04 ic then the patch 1.05....i not sure how inclusive patch 1.05ic is....that is does it include all former patches....and keep in mind that you want the DH version for all the patches since you said you installing on DH.

WHEN INSTALLING ic...you installed it in the mod folder and didnt try to over write DH....ic is treated as a mod for DH....needless to say when patching ic the patches should be going over ic in the mod folder

you playing on a win10 pc ....do you have any issues launching dh....or another dh mod. i play dh on a win7 pc (old pc for old games seem to work best) but on my win10 pc i turned off UAC AND MADE EXCEPTIONS FOR DH (and ic since its a mod of dh) in all security programs.....sometimes the anti-virus will stop the game from launching or wont launch if UAC is on and no rules been created to allow it to run

the main thing is you REALLY post this in the tech section of DH.....as there is more people and much more tech savy people there...alas this site is barely alive....hope i havent offended you too much and good luck

Hello again.

Sorry for the late reply, I had to go away for a bit.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for your posts and good will to help.

So, I've reinstalled the whole game from scratch:
I've downloaded DH from steam, which is shipped with 1.05 (not the latest 1.05.1 as mentionned in the launcher). Launched the game as is and it works flawlessly.
I then installed IC 1.00 that I downloaded from Moddb. Selected the root folder of the game, and choose the DH option to install upon. After, I've installed 1.04RC2 that is cummulative and selected the root folder of DH. Then I finished by installing the new beta on top. And unfortunately I get the same result. The game can not arrive to the map and the loading progress is stuck at its end. No error what so ever, and in the windows task manager, the process of DH is using all CPU % it can.

I will post in the support section for further assistance as per advice from you.

...well thats where i getting confused....i bought IC week it was released from gamersgate......when paradox switch over to using steam IC was sort of dropped...they stop selling it on gamesgate (if you owned it you could still download it)....and since gamersgate was only site that sold it....meant you couldnt buy it...if you look on this lobbby you see a few treats wondering where to buy the game. I just assumed you either got a gamersgate version or a pirate version.....as for getting it from MODDB...i looked there yeserday and i couldnt find a IRON CROSS....did find some mods for other games called IRON CROSS. I am also wondering if steam isnt the issue...the whole putting a mod on top of a steam game....maybe steam is preventing the launch as it sees the mod as a virus or hack of the game....either way too bad.

oh....yes....your question...downloading from gamesgate.....first you download an installer (fast to download but have to turn off my avast anti-virus) then the installer downloads and installs game (10 minutes)....it will ask which version....HOI2....AOD OR DH....simple....but as i said paradox has withdrawn IC for sale years ago.

WHILE I DIDNT fully installed the game (since i already had it installed) i did download it and start to....looks like the version i used from gamersgate and does ask if if you want to install it over DH/AOD OR HOI2.....not sure if using this version of download solves your issues but it cant hurt to try.

Hello deadmanhope.

I've tried as well with this link and it's the same result: it stays blocked at the end of the loading bar. I'm starting to think it's Steam that prevents me from loading IC. It annoys me, but I think I'll have to check for a torrent version just to be sure it is Steam or something on my PC.
I'm like everybody since IC is not longer buyable on Gamersgate, I can't pay for it and have to rely on Mega for the download.
I'll update you when I've tested a torrent version.
 
well....i have little expereince with steam....i was going to say try running darkest hour as XP compatibility. I HAD an issue with mod for AOD crashing and switching the game to XP compatibility FIXED IT.
