Hey CS forum,

Can anybody fill me in on how and when helicopters get to work?
Is it only when you set the policy?

I really cant seem to figure it out.

edit:
I mean like what are the parameters that trigger the launch of for example a medical helicopter?

I can't tell you exactly, but medical choppers pick up sick cims and deliver them to medical care facilities. No policy required.
They have a shift, I think it is 3 pick-up/deliveries, and return to base. If there are insufficient cims in need, they will return to base before the end of shift.
As long as there are enough sick cims, they should be buzzing around.

Police helicopters also have a shift, and its length is determined (somehow) by how much "crime" is lowered. It gets lowered as they fly over. High crime will result in quick returns to base.

Fire helicopters launch to respond to fire, first by flying to a water source to fill their buckets.
Seems to work more so on tree fires than anything, or tree specialized industry, at least in my experience. They will refill buckets. Return to base when fire is out.

There is a policy (haven't used it) about prefer helicopters over ground transportation. Presumably areas with no emergency building access, or distant access would be good candidates for that. Can't really say though.

That is the most detail I can provide.

hmm, yes i have poisoned my cims and then the medical helicopters started buzzing out indeed.
But other then forest fires with towers i haven't been able to do the same for the fire helicopters.
On that note, it's nice to know that every firewatch tower activates 3 helicopters.

Also, helicopter priority also makes it so that even within the range of a firehouse no fire engines are sent out.
Which is a shame.
My industry is congested to the point that neither option is very viable.
Even with basins.
An option for both would be apreciated.
