I fabricated a claim on one of my vassal's cities because I want to change the vassal from a grand mayor to a count to get rid of the -20 wrong government type bonus. So here is a pic that I have a strong claim (I am King Thomas):https://gyazo.com/1ca5a172d1ba9481c98e0cd52705fa9a

It even says that I can revoke without a penalty if I have a claim:https://gyazo.com/cfa93ca6125842e21706189368f48e56

I am pretty sure my crown laws are ok...I have a pretty strict Kingdom. I am a king in the HRE, but I don't know if that would matter because his laws also allow title revocation. Maybe there's a law I am overlooking?

Nevertheless, I still can't revoke without a -15 penalty to every vassal.https://gyazo.com/2e36a5fe9d12a221f99615125f29ce9b

I also can't plot to revoke his title either, if that means anything.

Thanks for any help.

The problem is that you have a claim on Ostfriesland, but you're trying to revoke Friesland. It's two different provinces.

This leads to a second question. Why is Ostfriesland not showing up on the list of titles that can be revoked? I'm guessing it's the character's capital and you'd need to first revoke the republic before you can revoke the capital county.

When I click my strong claim on Friesland, it takes me straight to Ostfriesland. I think it is a cultural name change.

Could it have to do with the fact that he is a republic and I have a claim on the COUNTY, while he has the grand city? If so, what can I even do to revoke this guy without pissing all my other vassals off?

Edit: Nevermind, he has another county next to his main county that is Friesland, and that's what I have a claim on. But still, why can't I revoke Friesland from him? I have a strong claim..

Edit 2: Actually, I have a claim on Ostfriesland itself. This honestly is really confusing. So I need to revoke the republic before I can revoke his main county? That makes sense. Do I just hope my chancellor fabricates a claim on the republic? Or can he not do that? https://gyazo.com/5e4b5552b443dd7be98c994f914ee40c

If you put your chancellor on his capital there is a chance he'll fabricate a claim on the duchy/republic, but it will likely take a long time. Make sure you don't pay for a claim on just the county. Only spend your gold and prestige if you get a claim on the duchy/republic.

Another option is to get a claim tjrough the pope, but I've only been able to do that with a vassalized pope. He might also plot which would give you a valid reason to imprison him. If that fails he'll rebel and ater you defeat him you'll be able to revoke the republic without tyranny.

Or you could wait until you're 60 years old and just revoke the republic and eat the tyranny.

You need a chancellor with more than or equal to 15 diplomacy to do that.
