Help! The Pope is not in Rome!

Help!

I started in the mid 12th century to play as the King of Jerusalem. But a few years in, I noticed the capital of the Papal State is... Orbetello. The ruler in Rome (as a vassal of the Papal State) Is a Prince-Bishop Giodarno of Rome

It seems I started the game sometime when there was some kind of revolt in the Papal State or something, as I went to around where I started the game and moved the years around and Rome was going from under control of the Pope and under control of the HRE. (I learned the Pope at the time had to leave rome because of some kind of revolt or something, by going to the page for Pope Eugene III)

I am guessing the Pope must have got Rome back from the HRE while I was playing or something because all the times when the Papal States has control of rome in the main menu it seems it is aways headquartered in Rome.

Will the Pope ever move his capital back to Rome or will it be in Orbetello forever?!? It is really annoying seeing it in Orbetello, and on the Religions Screen...

Generally, the Pope should revoke the bishopric of Rome from any other catholic priest who holds it, so there should be a return to the status quo very soon. If you can't wait, then you can always use the give_title command to return it to him.

If/When he revokes it though, will he move the capital back to Rome?

If he owns Rome himself then he will almost definitely move his capital back there when he can as the AI recognises it's a better province.

Well it was only about 4 years (or 10 or who knows, i do not know for sure) after I started I noticed this, and the HRE must have had it at my game start so he probably has not had much time to build anything! or something... XD

Not necessarily a bad thing if he has sights on Rome himself. Nothing worse than getting a province filled with Bishoprics when it could be filled with castles or cities.

I've noticed the AI moving their capital in strange ways also. It seems that they are solely focused on which country has the best total technology.

The crusaders taking Rome!? That makes no sense! I will not do that

although... i was thinking about in this game to finally try doing an antipope thing, i have never done it before!
