Help start the 18thC mod happen!

Hey this sounds cool. I'd like to help... I am a newbie when it comes to event scripting, so that may take me a while, but i can do it. I can research also. so is 1740 the starting date? or 1715?

anyways, here are a few ideas for organization of the mod effort.


EVENT TEAM: would be responsible for getting the events together and scripting them.

RESEARCH TEAM: would be responsible for making sure events and maps are historically correct, and to do the dirty work as far as researching what goes where.

MAP & GRAPHICS TEAM: would be responsible for putting together the new map and graphics.



those are a few areas at least. now this is just a suggestion so i won't be hurt if you think its dumb. I just thought that it may help the development. anways, just tell me what you want me to do and I'll get to it.

The start date is 1740, this is agood start date because its not to far back in time and it gets some of the really good mid 18th C wars like 7 years war, War of Austrian Succession, Ameriacn revolution etc.

Good ideas on the organisation.

I elect myself project leader and a Reichs-researcher

I think that Zuck and some of the others who have shown interest would be classified under event sripting etc. Zuck and Bandman are also trying to work on the map.

I'll try to recruit some guys to help do some of the flags, leaders etc.

sounds good. want me to do research? i guess that would be a good starting point. Or do we have enough history to start putting events together. Just tell me what to do.

hmmmm....ok we need some research on the triggers of the 7 years war and the war of austrian succesion, as they are very complicated wars. Also if you can come up with any event ideas from this research that would be good.

Researchers should research (duh ) but also shopuld come up with event ideas, then the event scripters do it and then test them. that way we can't lose!

Ok, the American events are going to take me like 2 seconds to throw together. I just need one thing: what are our triggers for these? I suppose I can start a whole folder based on the American revolution, and start the events like with "British Hand in the New World" as a starting event, and then each choice continues from there. I dont know, Kaiser, do you have MSN?

I am trying to compile Poland, but it is one hell of a job...

can you supplu me with a map of the staus of the Rhineland? One that doesn´t discredit it as 'minor states'?

how determined do you want these wars to be? do you want alot of event ideas pushing players and AI throught the course of the war, or have it more open?

this is the only map of German states i could find, problem is that it is dated 1786, so you should use it for the other smaller states, but when it comes to Prussia, Austria and Silesia you should change it.

Heres one from around the 1740's but it is small and doesn't have the many minor and smaller states.

sorry i couldn't find anymore...finding these types of maps is really hard, i'd think its more of a mix inbetween the two maps.

i'm gonna work primarly on the Napoleonic Wars

it would have been nice to have our own subforum

perhaps we should exchange emails to send each other files and stuff

good to have you aboard! in light of your keen interest in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars, i'll make you head of the Napoleonic and Revolutionary research and concept team. You come up with events, ideas maps etc in your own time and we will see what we can do.

Ok Zuck this is the best map of the Rhine i could find, its around 1790 but the borders are practically the same as they were 1740 odd. With the exception that there should be a Bishopric of Munster instead of it being under Austrian Control.
