I'm writing in some Cromwellian/puritan events, and I need some feedback from you, the good people of the forum.

What I'd like to know about is your experience in playing England in that period, and The English AI during the Cromwell/Lambert period.

Any advice or suggestions on what events I should include would also be welcome. It's going to be quite big, so any advice on actual historical Puritan philosophy, policies, etc would also be helpful.

If I posted this in the wrong forum, forgive me, but I didn't really know where to post it.

Edit: I'm in the process of my first English GC, but I haven't got up to The civil war, yet. I played France and Russia somewhat exhaustively, you see.

Some help on how the USA situation evolves would also be helpful. - as I said, I haven't got there yet.

Well can someone tell me how The USA emerges when you're playing as England?

I'm thinking of writing a full puritan monarch and event history for the rest of the GC - the point that it stems from is if you chose Lambert over old Charles II. Similar to The way France goes if you chose the ultra catholics, if you get my drift.

I've already pretty much wrote the monarch list, and some early events, but I really need help on The USA thing. As I said, I haven't got up to that stage with England in my GC yet, after playing France and Muscowy/Novgorod/Russia too much.

I aint' going to ram it full of events. I'm looking at no more events than those that happen if you play the game as it is now - just a few more with a puritan focus.

The short answer is that there are three events in the 1760s & early 1770s that cause the revolt risk in the Thirteen Colonies to skyrocket (IDs 3047, 3048, & 3049). If any province or set of provinces secede to form the USA, the US gets an event (ID 4990) which, with choice A, triggers an event for England (ID 4982) that forces them to secede all of the Thirteen Colonies to the US. After that, there are a series of events to simulate how the war ends (a big US victory, a marginal US victory, a UK victory).

Sorry for walking in on the discussion like this, but what happens if England don't control the soon-to-be-American provinces.
Not a unrealistic sutiation, since human players are generally better at grabbing colonies and annexing pagan nations than AIs.

Actually, events 3047 through 3049 don't require England to own any provinces in North America, so they will occur even if the Thirteen Colonies don't exist (obviously, they would have no effect on whomever owns them). In this case, since the USA wouldn't be able to form (at least due to these events), none of the subsequent American Revolution events would occur.

Consider this scenario as well: Holland owns Manhattan in the 1770s, while England owns all of the rest of the historical Thirteen Colonies. Holland loses control of Manhattan to rebels, & the USA appears with just that province in 1773. The English player sees this as a great opportunity to add Manhattan to the Empire, so it declares war. However, the moment England declares war, event 4990 (The Continental Congress) occurs for the USA, of which choice A triggers event 4982 (The Declaration of Independence) for the English. This means that instantly all of the English provinces in the Thirteen Colonies are seceded to the one-province USA. Ouch!
