Help please on succession

Hi all,
A little help please. I know I have gotten my baby making out of hand. 12 kids 4 through adultery but the bastards had amazing traits all genius!! So I recognized them.

So I have 5 boys in line for succession(bastards obviously not included not sure best way to use them)And my kingdom is going to split all over the place duchy tiles and counties splitting so a duchy will have counties with different lords. My primary duchy (I assume at least as the capital is in it). Is very annoyingly being split too.

At the very least I want to keep the primary duchy and the counties under my heirs control.

If I go conquering get some more titles will this help?

Please no advice on how to not get into this situation, I think I have a better idea now. But advice on how to deal with it as is.

of course. the more titles you have, the more each heir gets, and the game tries to keep de jure titles intact, so there's more of a chance of your primary heir getting the whole duchy.

Things to try:

1. Reduce the number of heirs

• Disinherit some of them
• Get some to take the vows (likely that only those lower down the line of succession will accept - though you can blackmail / imprison and force them to do it in some cases)
• Get some of them killed - for instance, by putting them at the head of a tiny army that you send against a much larger army.

2. Ensure the best possible distribution of titles

• Give some counties/duchies you have (or that you can aquire before you die) to those who are set to inherit. If they already have counties/duchies, they're moved to the last place when the remaining counties/duchies are handed out during inheretence (this isn't super straightforward - so double check you know how this works before diong it.

3. Change inheritance laws

• Not sure where you are tech-wise, but if you're in a position to nudge to a better type of partition before you die, that can help along with all the above. Even nudging out of Confederate Partition could, with a bit of strategic duchy destroying, put you in a better position.

Going equal to freely switch between male and female inheritance helps a lot as well.
It so much easier finding land for the second and third sister than for brothers 2-6.

That being said, as soon as you have a court, renown income will explode to silly amounts, and simply disinheriting becomes the lowest opportunity cost option.
You can still land them as you please, but they will no longer mess up inheritances where you get murdered too early, simply disinherit extra kids on birth.
