after a glorious struggle between Russia & Japan the Germans finally triggered bitter peace.
Since my japanese troops conquered all of the caucasus up to stalingrad, the bitter peace event was a mess. now every formerly japan controlled province switched back to russian!

I wanted to change the save game file to regain those provinces but it seems more difficult than I thought.

Can anyone tell me, how to edit the data to change control & ownership?

I guessed it would be here, but it seems not to be (no JAP or SOV tag at least)

They are listed separately in each country. look for:

ownedprovinces =
controlledprovinces =

you need to remove them from one country and add them to another. You might also need to move any forces that are there to another province.

I had a similar problem playing as Japan. Bitter peace pretty much forced me to return all controlled provinces to the Soviets  a bit silly really. I went back to my saved game and liberated Siberia.

I too would be opposed to Japs in Stalingrad. Glad the devs thought of that and are teaching the player of Japan to stop being so imperialist! Seems like getting the Pacific is not enough for some people. :p

Seriously, I think Tuscan has the much better game solution. ( He went back to his saved game and liberated Siberia.) A very good diplomatic one that is easy to implement, and much more palatable than painting the world yellow. Also should save Japan oddles of manpower on garrisons not needed going the Siberia puppet way.
