Help, my game is crashing.

The game is crashing over and over again. I get this message; ”Ddhelp Programmet har utfört en förbjuden åtgärd och kommer att avslutas. Kontakta återförsäljaren för programmet om problemet består.” I don’t use any beta patch or any mod, only patch v.1.07. What to do?

Have you tried to restart your computer? The game also affects my ddhelp file for some reason, causing it to go crazy once in a while, usually after I quit and then reload later before I restart the computer. I wish I could read Swedish to help you, but as soon as I saw you say "ddhelp", I thought this might be a solution.

You're probably better off posting in Support forum since those folk are the best at figuring things out.

Not knowing that language I still think I can help you. I believe it is the avi folder that is causing the trouble. Rename it avi_back and that should fix your problem.

Now that we are in support, please rename your AVI folder to AVI_back as Amric suggested.

Run the direct X diagnostic and see if it come up with any problems.

What version of DirectX are you useing?

I'm using Direct X 9.0b. But I will erase everything on my PC and start from scratch, beacause I suspect there are major problems with my PC. Then maybe everything will work as it should.

My lord, that is drastic...I am very fond of my Norton Systemworks. Keeps me from screwing my system something fierce. Although from what little I can figure it may be a dll that is missing. Which can be a stone cold pain to get taken care of...so your drastic measure may be the best solution, other than trying to find the exact dll that is causing the problem....

Now I have formatted my hard disk and the game has only crashed once in three days. That's good enough for me .

Its not a bad idea to reinstall everything every once in ahwile.
