I'm playing with Spain a game with a randomized New World. I have five colonialstates and a big problem. I don't know if it is a patch 1.5 or a ingame 18th century issue but I'm now nearly in a permanent war against other european countries, because my colonial states try to conquer some provinces (with passion tiny islands but they don't own/create any transportships) from other colonialstates and after a while the motherlands joins the war and unfortunately automatically me too. It's really annoying because my colonialstates don't care about my actual alliances and fight colonialstates of allied countries resulting in war with my allies, they don't care if I'm in war in europe as well and they like to fight the french colonalstates. And France now regularly steamrolling Spain and my army. Is this the intended behavior of the colonial states? How can I stop this?

Well, historically colonial states often did pick fights that didn't accord with their masters' grand diplomatic plans... pretty sure that this is an intended complication, although perhaps they shouldn't be quite so eager to throw down.

My problems aren't the wars the colonial states fight among themselves. At first I was happy that they are declaring wars because in pre patch 1.5 times they did nothing. My problem is that I have to join these stupid wars automatically when an other european country like my beloved neighbour France protect their colonialstates. Because France regularly sends their whole army to Spain and destroys my efforts to build an new army. Is their an option to chose wether I join/not join these wars because in most cases I don't care if my colonialstates gain or loss a province.

Well basically you are fighting Seven Years' War types of wars in the XVIIIth century with your archrival for Global Domination, sounds like an interesting late game situation which everyone has been asking for.

If they annoy you too much, you can give your CN independence (I think), but if you want to keep them, be prepared to be dragged in those wars.

And it's worse when that automatically kills all your diplomacy with automatic defensive CTAs.

By the way, are you sure your CNs are fighting your allies' CNs? I thought the CNs were unable to wage war on CNs subject to their overlords' allies. At least that was in 1.4, and I couldn't declaer on Spanish CNs as Portuguese Brazil because "our overlords are allied" thing - the red button was grayed out. Is this a change in 1.5?
