Only problem in 2.2.x i have with transcendence is that zro deposites are so limited... if only shroudwould provide technology to turn other thing, like living metal into zro...

What about a "bioreactor" that you could get from some dimensional event or shroud event, that ate some of your planet's pop growth and food in exchange for Zro?

I'd really love to see the different dimensional portal, horizon loop and psionic events tied in together into some sort of narrative at some point.

It's fun! The Shroud gives the best flavor available on the Ascension paths and who doesn't wanna play a race of space wizards?
One man's flavour is another man's fluff apparently. PI can write me a novel for all I care, if there's no gameplay in it I'm not buying. (which is why I dropped this game around the time of utopia, ironically they stopped doing just fluff and starting working on the actual game pretty much right after that)

Practically it feels like a race of space gamblers. Maybe a bit like WH40k chaos, with all them deals with demons that you get to make.
"Space wizards" are supposed to have powers of their own. All you have are pop/leader bonuses to efficiency of mundane processes and unique ship modules.
IMHO from this side of things this path is even a bigger disappointment than it is from the balance side of things.

1 total zro deposit on the entire 1000 galaxy map. And I only lucked out spawning it by psy jumping into unreachable space before it was colonized

I think they patched it so that events can't overwrite locked civics.

Nope, God Emperor still reigns supreme and gives no fucks about your starting civics. As it should be.

Have anyone mentioned that the psi corps building is awesome with +5 stability and governors get another 5 stability? 10 stability is pretty awesome in itself.

someone mentioned racket pops being a point for psionic since you could get psionic scientists easier, but it's actually a strike against it; semi-reliable access to psionic pops means you can have your psychic leader caste without having to be psychic yourself, and bio ascension allows you to further customize them for that role.

the zro thing is happens because zro has a 0.25% chance to spawn on toxic worlds in a nebula and half as much not in a nebula.
You can`t buy zro until you got some.

As for the bonuses psi gives the best leader bonuses and great pop bonuses, get venerable and your leaders live so long you might not lose a leader till late 2400s.

Than you got the shroud patrons, +10% resources from jobs or +15% research speed and bonus influence (the other 2 not so good) & of course you cam end the cycle.

The psi corps +5 stability is great, it also generates unity and is decent at stopping crime (should you have a local mafia problem)

Psionic materialist are so strong and in 2.2 getting psionic materialist is much easier.

Can you explain how to get psionic materialist? I was under the impression psionic theory tech would never show up for a materialist.

The impossible ceramics anomaly sometimes gives your researcher the Psionic Theory trait, which you can use to roll the Psionics Theory tech if you stick him on society research. I think there are a couple of other ways, but that's the one I know.

Psionic Materialist:

Get a bunch of scientists on assist research on planets. As they gain experience they have a chance to randomly gain any "Expertise" trait.
Once one gets Psionics Expertise, plop them onto Society Research. Keep farming your scientists until you get psionic theory.

If your leader is the Chosen One you will be eligible for an event (utopia.3400) with a MTTH of ~10 years. If you then accept, your authority will change to imperial authority, and your civics will be overridden.
It also changes your ethos to fanatic authoritarian and spiritualist.
This synergizes well with non-Purifier starts because of genocide opinion penalties...

It actually just requires the Chosen One to exist - they don't have to be your leader.

Psi has access to modification, can adapt freely.
You sure we playing the same game? Sure does look not-free to me.
upload_2018-12-17_15-21-24.png

While I do hope they rectify this... can you imagine the steamroll of fleet-wide psi shields while the universe is on deflector tech?
Yes I can because that means you have spend decade or two to researching single tech while others can steamroll updated tech all that time. Is it a good plan to fast lane to best tech? It is if you can survive that long as you save the research points from the lesser techs for something else. Also you are taking huge risk war-vise as everyone see your tech level as pathetic as you are not gaining new tech.
Colossus.
Well yeah but not really. Divine Enforcer does work lot like it but instead it makes pops spiritual, not loyal.
Yes, immortal leaders are great and all, but Psionic leaders are just BETTER than machine ones, particularly admirals and scientists.
Debatable.

Machine scientists are almost certain to have chance for Sapient AI Assistant but indeed Psi researches benefit for static +5% better research.

Longer range means damage delivered before enemy can retaliate. Higher Rate of Fire (RoF) is better than increased damage when the lower damage is enough to deliver the killing blow thus less overkills. This is especially important in Stellaris where hull damage reduces ships retaliation performance significantly. Usually the RoF vs dmg set-up leads to heated discussion and speculation about multitude of scenarios where another is better than another so I cut the chase by noting that two identical ships with identical hits shooting each others the one shooting more always wins, be it because of earlier engagement because of superior range or better RoF (when the bonus to damage does not affect hits needed to destroy target). Also, Titan with increased RoF means directly +5% more kills as the damage is anyway enough to kill everything else with one hit except other titan, big spacestation or crappy hit against a high shield battleship.

As governors the increased unity is nice until you hit 8 ascension perks after every other governor is better.

Granted, Psi leader with Deep Connections its the best by far.
Get a bunch of scientists on assist research on planets. As they gain experience they have a chance to randomly gain any "Expertise" trait.
You sure it works like that? According to wiki you need the psi theory to have chance for the roll. If it works like as you described then it smells like a bug.

Right off the bat, psionics is probably the weakest ascension based on the trait it provides, but it also comes with a regular lottery, and some of the things you can win leave both robots and genetic supermen in the dust.

Also, it's the only way to become a servant of the ruinous powers of Chaos. Why wouldn't you become a servant of the ruinous powers of Chaos? :D
