Dear Fellow-Gamers,
As a feudal newbie and slow-to-react strategic dimwit, I bought CK2 two weeks ago and have been trying to figure it out ever since. The forums have been a big help.
I don't have a problem with understanding that it is my job to set my own goals within the game and so on. I sort of like that.
I also think that the incredible richness of detail which the game allows for following all of the dynasties and their individual laws and feudal organizations is simply fascinating.
Now, however, I am a bit overwhelmed. I started a game as Brittany with the goal of trying to expand my power base and rack up those prestige / victory points by aggressively dictating and influencing what happens in my corner of France. In the beginning it was simple, I ruled my Duchy and kept putting down revolts and stopping plots or else destroying factions. I also made nice and established a lot of good relations with the other French Duchies. I later joined the French nation under the Capet dynasty and took him on as my liege. Eventually England under William the Conquerer swallowed us all up and we all owed fealty to the Red Lion.
Later due to internal English politics over on the island, a massive English power struggle resulted in William losing a huge amount of influence (and also quite a few troops). He eventually died a bitter old man and voila! France reappeared. Now here's the kicker - I'm the King! Umm... what? I mean, I guess I noticed a bunch of little messages from other Dukes saying they favored me as King of France, but what does that mean? I just clicked them away. How can you wake up suddenly and you're king?
Does the game somehow know that I have no clue and now it's setting me up for all my non-player vassals to feast on me? This is starting to get a little strange here? I mean, I guess I wanted to be king but is this normal? I would appreciate any thoughts/input.
