Help! Game will not save AoD v1.07

I'm having the same problem Commander666. You didn't say what worked for you ?

THe trick is to install the program "outside of program files" so you have FULL Administrator Rights. The Install Wizard will automatically install game in Program Files (x86). Installed there you don't have any Admin rights unless you right click on program and state "run as administrator". That is a partial fix, but full adminstrator rights are best achieved by installing the program in a folder in MY DOCUMENTS/DOCUMENTS (or on your desk top if you wish).

Step 1: Download v1.02 to folder in your documents. Start the Instal Wizard BUT BE SURE TO CHANGE ITS DEFAULT SETTING SO IT INSTALLS IN YOUR FOLDER IN DOCUMENTS. Run the game and check it.

Step 2: Download Patch v1.07 to same folder. Again change install wizard default seting so program is installed in your Documents folder.

Step 3: Right click program in your documents and pin short cut to task bar.

To minimize program anytime go alt/tab. To open click icon in task bar.

CAUTION: If you are unsure which downloaded item for v1.02 is the correct one to submit to the install wizard let me know. I need to check which it was, or maybe that is where I went wrong as I got one bug with my install (promoting leaders does not lose a level of skill).

Thanks for the advise---it works now. Actually, before I used your method, I tried downloading at Gamergate patch after patch. 1.02 will work in Program Files (x86) completely,and so will 1.03 and 1.04. It's with 1.05 that things seem to be messed up. For the last part, I simply moved my game from (x86) to Documents, as I didn't see Documents as a choice in the install wizard.

Thanks again ! But it would be nice if these games would work normally, as I have installed a few really old games into Program Files (x86), and they all work fine.

You just need to install 1.02 then 1.08, not all the patches inbetween.

After doing a little more research, it looks to be a problem with administrative "permissions" after all.

If someone is having this problem install normally into Program Files, then click on property tab, then security tab and do some editing.

I wish I had you for my IT manager! "click, click, and do some editing". Only problem is noobs have absolutely no idea what to edit, where to edit it, or how to edit it. Guess I got lucky because my game runs great operating from within my Documents.

I am most honored to have been of some service to another fellow. That is rather remarkable considering the noob I am.

Yes, you are right, it was always OK up to v1.04. As I never played past that until now (and its 1.07) I was totally clueless and could only think it had to be my fault.

With the instal wizard, you should be able to tree to any folder anywhere in your system. I suppose - to simplfy instructions for computer challenged users - one could just say "install into desk top folder" because that one can surely reach when telling the wizard were to install. Then just drag folder into documents were it is safer from accidental deletion. Once there, then set up the task bar short cut.

I think cookie77 knows that. He is only saying how he tested it to find the point where it screwed up.

Had the same "no save" problem, and fixed it by running the game as "administrator" under Windows 7... Thanks a lot for the advice!
