Help, game freezes at a certain date

My game (VV 2.1, no mods), freezes when the date switches to 1 sept 545.
I get a new autosave and then it just hangs.
If I try to load the autosave it starts frozen.
I I reload my save it runs fine to 1 sept 545 and then freezes.
The process seems to consume more and more memory.

I would really like to continue my game - any way to fix this?

I saw some suggestions about looking for owner="BAR" and core="BAR" in the savegame, but I don't have any of that in my savefile...

Any other suggestions?

The only "new" thing I've done in my game was to seduce a governor and gain a province that way.

The BAR stuff only applies to plain Rome, not VV. You probably have the NoCultureGroup bug, see http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=387866

It ought to be fixed in 2.2 BTW, but you'll need to fix it up manually first.
