Hi All,
I've recently stumbled upon issues with saving time in Crusader Kings 2 (who hasn't?), and from what I saw, the compression could be one of the sources of the issue.
So I did some tests by activating and deactivating the compression for autosaves, and measuring the time spent in each case. It has been asked of me to see whether this issue was affecting other people, and this is why i'm here today.
So, I'd like for you to try and test it out on your computer (mostly if the saving time is long for you too).
The test is this :
1) Have a non ironman game (compression is automatically activated on ironman hence the post) advanced enough so that the data is sufficient to generate a 'big' save
2) Activate autosaving
3) Measure the autosaving this with and without Compression activated (Cloud saving should be deactivated also).
4) Post here both times with a description of the environnement where the test was made (PC Specs, OS, etc...)
For me it would go :
Saving :
Time in the game : 10 years in (it would be better if the game was longer, but I have (at least now) no such save
With Compression : ~7 seconds
Without : ~2 seconds
Specs :
i7 4710 2.5Ghz
8 Gb RAM
SSD Drive
Thanks in advance for all of you willing to help.
