Hi as of this patch the the garrison order is broke....again.....while i am sure it will be fixed id like paradox to consider these things so I might just be able to keep the few strand of hair on my head that I have left.

1.allowing the fallback line to work with or create a similar button to I can nail those bastards to the ground and still have the garrison cap would really help ....really stop no stop dont leave that port open AHHHH ......yea that happens way to much or more recently port what port...that one the one i build a **** ton of forts on ..forts ...are you sure this level one port thats never been invaded over here is soooo much more import...no no no no AHHHHHH!!!!

2.This patch has improved to a great degree the suicidal tendencies of my troops I appreciate that but still my little lemmings just love to swim, I know it so hard to get them to stop they just love it. but still a button to tell them not to go into the water and say hello to the British an french navies would very much be appreciated

3.And lastly the AI does a decent job on many occasions but sometime we disagree as to what important like when it strategically redeploys my unit off the most critical part of my front to guard against that empty province and..overload a supply zone....why why why.....still id like to have the last word so a button to well have the last word an remove that unit or units from ai control without cancelling all there orders would be greatly appreciated.

also im a lazy bastard so not sure if any of these have been suggested before but though id mention it just in case.

a few other ideas not related to my sanity

researching with civilian factories right now its pretty much a no brainer build more military factories more more more... well if research is either augmented by or done entirely by civil factories that would easily make for a much harder decision this would also be more realistic as civil factories replaced money from (HOI3) so research would cost again instead of being well free.

selling off old equipment yes towards the end of the game the stockpile gets well cluttered and yes the licences are great for the latest and greatest equipment but what about the 50k weapon1s sitting in the stockpile...selling off obsolete equipment for factories would be good for the major and might be just what a minor needs

Thanks for listening and I hope you will save my sanity in the near future

I would really ally love an ability for us to pick a garrison unit, push a "guard this province" button. And he would stay there no matter what and the other units in the army would run around as always.

I think would be better set the number of troops from the state window instead of making divisions - assign them to an army - select the regions - watch em going everywhere but you wanted.

Using the garrison mechanic as Japan to guard Harbors in China while still fighting for the province is bugged. Garrison only the two harbors in the Shandong and Quingdao province will cause the tool tip to say you need 8 units to guard 2 harbors and i have seen my 2nd guard unit moving forward towards the frontline and attack.
I have also seen when selecting units in Manchuria to be part of an army with an garrison order for the Japanese Homeland og Islands will make the units just stand in Manchuria not moving at all.
The garrison mechanic is useless. I micro my guard units.

The problem is, you don't notice the occasions when the AI does its job, you only notice when it fucks up and it's hard to get it to always do the right thing. You can't have full manual control and have all the comfort the AI offers. I don't know how many times I wrote this in the forums already but I think the AI is too smart for its own good. It sends troops via sea because it calculates that way consist of a lower number of provinces or is actually faster than going by land. It tries to constantly maintain a balanced frontline. I think it doesn't have to do either of these things.

If I want divisions assigned to an order to go somewhere by sea I always want to specify at least the port they should use to depart.
I also never want to have a balanced frontline. I want to concentrate units in important places. I don't want to overcommit troops in provinces with harsh terrain - mountains for example give defense boni anyway, I don't need to put 8 divisions there even if 8 enemy divisions might attack me.
Instead of the AI permanently deciding whether or not each of my divisions is able to successfuly attack an enemy province I just want to have all my untis assigned to a battleplan attack at the same time in a predefined matter based on terrain - that's what a battleplan is. If the enemy crosses my plans it's my job to figure out how to deal with it.

I do notice and the AI has come a long way from the marching AI in the past where it felt compelled to march troops up and down the line...for whatever reason especially in this patch, this isnt gone but reduced to a large degree still my comment is in reference to all the times when I can easily see there is a need for a correction but the AI insists on doing well something else there has been so many time I had to spam stop to keep it from opening a critical gap and just generally being able to be ultimately be in command and have the last word as to what things do instead as of now ill say stop an the AI immediately counters my orders its not that I want to disable the AI all the time just at certain times IE as in my last example tell a unit to stop till more get there as the AI usually has thing heading there but still for some odd reason from the farthest area then return it to AI after it has been stabilized the AI after all an will never be perfect but it is about having ultimate control at least for a time over your troops or then again there may even be people who would want to micro it all. still I assumed and probably shouldn't have that said button would also be able to return said unit to AI control as well.

also had an idea for AI improvement it should keep reserves IE in a stack of 24 it only deploys 20 and holds 4 back to fill gaps counter attack or attack its how armies would really work an the AI would need to adjust the front lines less instead pulling from its reserve force first
