Ok. He says something without giving proof. And then Herbert slams him and you jorian not only build on that but proceed to say again a generalization claim "polish people are usualy friends of the hungarians"

What I'm trying to say is that instead of telling him "back up what you say" you are doing this. You are not trying to solve but you are escalating the problem. Think about it.

Mmm, this post makes me willing to clarify my position.

First, I believe that central europe was (and to a certain extent is) an inextricable mixture of languages, cultures and religions. So the province properties in the game are just functional semplifications - like hungarian culture being west slavic, for instance.

In second place, there always is someone unhappy with ANY interpretation of the map. I am not pro-hungarian or pro-klingon or whatever, I am just bored by such discussions on these forums. Not on themselves: they might be useful discussions, if done with mutual respect and quotation of the sources, but most importantly somewhere else.

What I meant by nationalism was not the Bhoratical glory of Khazastan, but rather the endless stream of mutually incompatible "correction" suggestions plaguing too many EUIII threads.

This said, I am happy that new nation formation decisions will be added - they will make messing in central Europe more fun ;) Of course, for gameplay reasons, Poland should be formable, too...

Allright I know what you mean. Our region is really hard to clearly represent and I guess it will be always like that - hard to please everyone. It just wasn't fair game to pick on the guy in that case.

As for Poland - you mean it should start split in duchies and then possibly form it or ? Because right now it is a unitary state. I guess I'm missing something here :D

Suppose you are Mazovia, Poland falls prey to a personal union with, say, Ethiopia, and get inherited. You should be given the option to reform into Poland if you manage to grab Krakow and hold it against the ethiopian hordes until it cores.

Possibly, Transilvania (or Wallachia or Siebenburgen or whatever you want to call the local dukedom) could be given the option to reform into Hungary, too.

In general, if a country is not the only expression of a culture, then there should be a way to claim a "national" identity, precisely as any french minor can reform into France.
This phrase is not really precise (there isn't a "west slavic" country, but there is Poland, Hungary and Bohemia) but I believe you (and our beloved P.O.P.E.) can get my drift.

Make a decision "change culture to Romanian" or something, with the AI factor set to 0. Keep Transylvania provinces culture Romanian.

That way you get realistic Transylvania - A Szekely Hungarian dominated country with Romanian countryside.

That would work, but then, why not Silesia? What about Danzig/Gdansk? Leibach/Lubljana? BELFAST? JERUSALEM????

I would just leave Transylvania hungarian (codifyng the culture of the ruling class instead of the one of the land). If you manage to get the province as a rumenian country, just place you national focus there and wait a few years. Think of it as what the hungarian overlord before you did.

So had Mecklenburg been removed from the game or is it still availabe as a revolter? Or is it still a nation at start and just with less territory?

Nice to see Jeruselem added!

IIRC Mecklenberg used to start with two provinces in 1399 - Lubeck and Mecklenberg (don't remember if those are the right names, but I think that's right). From screenshots, it looks like it still has one province to start but Lubeck and the COT go to the Hansa instead.

Look at the demo, there were map changes in this area. Mecklemburg will have a one province only, their capital. Hanseatic League will have Hamburg and Lubeck.

Which is logical as Mecklenburg _never_ held lubeck in real history ;)

I always missed the option to play as Lübeck, especially as many merchant games were centered around Hanza, now finally that is possible, plus you can make trade leagues if you are a merchant republic (my only problem is that the nation is not using the Lübeck flag but oh well, a minor edit only)

It's hardly a gamebreaker, but the inherently French nature of the Kingdom of Jerusalem's monarchs, and its culture as cosmopolitan_french seems very, very strange. Why would I, as Austria/England/Spain/any other number of Catholic countries generally wary of France, want to establish a French kingdom in Judea?

Why would I, as Austria/England/Spain/any other number of Catholic countries generally wary of France, want to establish a French kingdom in Judea?

Is Jerusalem of Cosmopolitaine culture? I think it shouldn't be... considering that its founders were mainly lords of Frankish (not French), Visigothic, Normand and Lombard descent...

Godfrey de Bouillon was probably Frankish, lord of an area quite germanized by Flemish culture. Raimon de Tolosa was of Visigothic ancestors, lord of Occitan lands, nothing to do with French cosmopolitaine, or even Frankish. Bohemon de Taranto was a Normand, son of Robert Guiscard, the Normand conqueror of Sicily (a Viking, in simple words). Robert de Flandres was Frankish, and Flemish. The House of Montferrato is of Lombard origin...

Crusaders came from everywhere. Even king Sigurd of Norway went on Crusade, and he was the first king to do it, before the Second Crusade. Many lords in the First Crusade came from France, but of course France was not today's homogeneous France. Not at all. And the most important of them came from frontier or outside duchies (Lorraine, Flanders, Boulogne, Normandy, Apulia, Toulouse, Catalonia, Genoa), and knight from everywhere kept coming with their troops.

Maybe cosmopolitaine is not the best option, but which one is left? I'm afraid it's gonna be cosmopolitaine...
