I gave my heir some land, because my demesne was to big for me to control, but now he isn't the heir to my clan anymore, is there a way to make him the heir to my clan again?

Under the Heir position on the Clan tab should be a button "Nominate" - click that then choose your heir and all others should either vote for him or become pretenders.

I thought I was having trouble with this - but , for me, it seems that your heir has to be an adult before anyone else can vote for him. As soon as my heir reached adulthood it was no problem

I made a child my heir and he did get backing, though it was years before he had the full backing of every vassal.

Edit: My 3-year-old son has the full backing of all four of my vassals. Age seems to be irrelevant.

I have found increasing the honor of your heir helps them gain support.

You nominating them will get them elected unless you are dishonourable/your vassals hate you. Giveing your heir Daimyo titles also helps.

A few things seem to contribute to the votes of your vassals. First thing I have noticed is that they will hardly ever support infants or young children. If you are in that situation, they will often vote for your sibling or another branch of your family. If this is the problem, they will start supporting him around age 10 or so; I'm positive he doesn't need to be a full adult.

Secondarily, both your personal honor and the honor of your son seems to influence this. I assume this is so because high honor is generating those positive modifiers to the relationships, and who they vote for is ultimately determined by vassals relationship to candidates. This is also probably why you are able to obtain court ranks for your eldest son. That, and the fact that it makes the honor hit at clan leader death less painful.
