I read something interesting about re education (increase some stats and decrease others), however i rather think that a system more similar to ck2 would be better...

How about an "Dynasties" DLC? Of course not as detailled as in CK2, however with the option to see your dynasty members (however without pictures obviously), their age and their skills? For instance: A ruler gets 2 sons, both got mil4, then after thge king died and one of them becomes king, the other on does not only become heir until the son is born, but is also a possible advisor.

Additionally, when an heir is born, he starts with 0/0/0, thus there should be the option to edcuate your son with events, which got a chance to get the son a trait (e.g +1 military power). Once your son is 5, there is one event each year. Once your son is 15, you can additionally make him general, which will increase his military power by 1 after 5 years, and by 2 if a war was won during his time as military general.

Events should be like in ck2, each answere has a chance, like this:

(Event text)

Answere I
20% chance that nothing happens.
60% chance gains 1 military power
20% chance loses 1 military power

Answere II

20% chance gains 2 diplomacy power, loses 1 military power
60% chance gains 1 diplomacy power
20% chance gains 2 diplomacy power

Answere III

20% Gains 1 Administration and 1 Military Power
40% chance gains 1 Administration
10% chance that nothing happens
30% chance of gaining 2 administration

------------------------------------------------------
The player would get such events each year until the heir is 15, thus there are around 10 events to "forge" the next ruler. Additionally the heir and ruler can get an additionally military power point each 20 years for winning a war while fighting as a general at least 5 battles.

Also the Ruler can increase its administration by one, if he does not accept any loan for 10 years and has a constant +50 positive money account.

His diplomacy can be increased if he stays in peace for longer than 10 years.

That "mechanic" would enable long time rulers to become at least somewhat usefull, so if henry VI rules 40 years, he can get at least get +2 military power if he wins 2 wars as general. And 0/0/2 and if he also can keep the countrys account balance high, even 1/0/2..

Obviously better than 0/0/0... However if you are UNLUCKY, your heir will, even with the event system, maybe end up 0/0/0 (for instance there should be a chance that your heir is an morron), but OVERALL you could "educate" or lets say "try" to educate your heir. If it works, is another story, you still can be unlucky and get "10% chance that nothing happens" or maybe even some events like: "Sends your son on a hunt" , where there is the option to gain +2 military power, but also the chance that he gets hurt and gets -1 administration and -1 military power..

Who would like it?

I've always found it really odd that a ruler's stats wouldn't change from birth till death. Ruled for 50 years? Personally led armies that won massive battles, conquered huge sections of land, decreased your countries inflation by a huge amount? Nah, we're keeping you at the same terrible stats you were born with.

I don't know about huge increases, but getting a small + 1 in a stat here and there doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Unless there is already something like that now? Just talking about EU3 here.

This is arguably the best suggestion for the "heir education" event. However, it's difficult to evaluate how "random" monarchs effect the long term game until tomorrow. Let's discuss this in the next week, if it is still necessary.

I don't see why such a simple thing needs to be DLC. The overuse of that term is astonishing here.

A system as such should already exist, really. It makes more sense than the now unmovable silliness that is unchangeable leaders. Might as well let pretender rebels win if you get a 0/0/0.

I like it, but I thing this should have already been in the default game since emphasis on the ruler is so much more now than in EU3 (and to some extent even CK2). Hopefully all current problems will get sort out by the new year.

aggree, however i just secretly wish that if paradox realises that a lot of people would like it, they might even do a "larger" dynasties dlc.. at least thats what i hope.. since i really miss it from ck2 :).

Also to the maximum stats of 6/6/6 , i think that it should be able to increase as well. For instance when you start with frederik the great or napoleon, who are definately X/X/6 rulers, i think that after for instance winning 7 years war with frederik, or the battle of waterloo and european domination with napoleon, they should also get the +1 Military power (for winning a war with 5 commanded battle´s), or dont you aggree? I dont see a reason why someone should stop improveing, especially in military warfare and administration, you learn your entire life..

And if someone manages to keep his 6/6/6 ruler alive for 40 years, why should´t he be better than a fresh 6/6/6? Its just normal that hes better, he´s more experienced...

Also "murder" attempts would be nice for future expansions. And if your king is murdered, you either have to pay a lot of money to the people (like 10 gold each province), or get -1 or - 2 instability, thus no one could exploit murder in multiplayer.. but thats some idea for the long run

I like the general aim of the idea, but there should be the chance for your monarch to lose stats over the course of their rule as well - A Madness of King George III type event if you will for instance, etc.

Yes of course, or for instance your king gets wounded in the battlefield will decrease its administration and make it unable to act as commander for 1 month or something (dont think that it should decrease his military command since you can command your armys from an hospital as well)

This dlc sounds like the best idea for the game I have heard yet. I hated it so much when my heir died and he was the only one, it always killed a good game. If you at least no who is next in line, and you can develop up your heirs, it would be much better.

It will be modded in within the first week. If it is not I will do it. Random events are silly, i was thinking via decision spend 100 admin to raise current heir admin by 1. If current heir admin =3 75/25 success, if = 4 50/50 etc. Immediatly looking at it you're thinking "Gosh 100 points is hardly worth it unless the heir reigns for 100 years". You also need to consider that many events use or require leader stats as factors/triggers and it is therefore worth it.

Perhaps it was due to the demo's time limit, but you will soon find the "Ahead penalty" on tech forces you to pick up ideas or if you're doing mass conquering you're spending it coring/stab/war exh/peace dip cost. (note military points are seldom used for these common actions so probably worth getting a military idea for your first one).

I've played portugal, england, papal, ottomans, austria and brandenburg for 200 years and found there were certain ideas i just never picked.

TLDR: the ahead penalty forces you to pick up ideas unless you're doing mass conquering.
