Heir dies during regency. Regency forever?

So I am playing a quite succesful Norway game, and I ended up with a 13 year regency (blurgh). Anyway, I decide to fully commit and look for strategic colonial places and the such during these horrible 13 years, but then may useless heir of 2/1/2 fell ill. I was quite happy, hoping that this useless heir would die, and a random guy would take the throne and remove the regency. Alas, no none of that. Regency for dead little Hakon continues. Also, I didn't get an interregnum. Will this horrible thing never end? I would be so pissed if that was the case...

I'm pretty sure that after an undetermined amount of time, a new adult king will suddenly appear out of nowhere.

I'll just hope so... I think my heir was about 9 when he died, so maybe when the heir would pick become fifteen I get a new king?

EDIT: nevermind, I just got a new king, so I can continue beating the Spanish, English and Portuguese out of my America.

Also a fun fact: during the regency of little Hakon I got that new event that boosts one of his stats by two. Guess what, this random heir (19 years old) get the +2 admin bonus =)

Yeah you should get an interregnum but I have noticed it doesn't always happen right away.

As you might have read I just randomly got a new king. He was of France's dynasty since France was the only country I had a royal marriage with.
I did make a screenshot of it though.

That's what you get for calling a 2/1/2 heir useless. Sure, he might not be awesome, but the fact that he's alive more than makes it up for the lack of stats. I call any kind of monarch with sum(ADM, DIP, MIL) > 2 decent. Anyone with sum(ADM, DIP, MIL) > 6 is great, and sum(ADM, DIP, MIL) > 9 is godlike in my book

There's a new event for regencies where heirs can get bonuses to stats.

I call any kind of monarch with sum(ADM, DIP, MIL) > 2 decent. Anyone with sum(ADM, DIP, MIL) > 6 is great, and sum(ADM, DIP, MIL) > 9 is godlike in my book
