Hi

Having built a small city of around 21k, started after the DLC was released, I have zoned several residential areas and in one of the larger ones I have set the policy for heavy traffic ban to be effective. The game has continued for a long time now and I have found that even though there is alternative highway roads with faster speeds the new Industries DLC trucks will still use the zoned district to drive their trucks through.....

MWyNzyC.jpg

if you recognise the vehicles you will notice Ore trucks and other vehicle types from the Industries DLC. I also have noticed large forestry trucks carrying raw material (huge logs) on trucks.

On the left there is a roundabout where they can go to the outside connection via a medium sized road.

Running parallel and below the above, out of the zone, is a medium road leading to a roundabout connected to the highway taking them out of the city. But they seem to prefer to use the small roads through the low density housing zone, even with the noted ban in place.

Are the industries vehicle type not included in the heavy traffic ban policy...?

Thanks

That's what I had hoped.

Ignore the spelling error in the screenshot.......

the trucks from the Unique factories on the right (about 8 of them) seem to want to drive through the residential zone and ignore the heavy traffic ban policy, even with the highway below that zone.

On that road I see both vehicles that should and should not be affected by the policy. Vehicles that handle raw production should go under the ban, and vehicles carrying unique goods should not. Go ahead and report it as a bug.

Here is the district showing the policy in use.....

...from your post @ristosal do you mean unique goods produced by the unique factories should be allowed to use those small roads through the housing zone and ignore the ban...?

If so that would mean large car transporters carrying cars and lemonade trucks etc would be driving through, surely they shouldn't...? A Car transporter is kinda big...!

I had noted that in my posts.

The roads they are using are two lane grassed or plain roads with a slow speed.

The road outside of the policy enabled zone is a fast highway.

The policy rules, if I understand them correctly,, should still apply regardless of the road type.

Did you try making the district borders a bit less straddling the road edge? I noticed that the policy only works with clear inclusions into a restricted zone, and best with complete intersections within the zone (no edge on the intersection).

Overall I find that when using medium roads and larger the district tool snaps to the roads easier to allow precise placing.
But the zone that I created should work fine as I have used this type of zoning for heavy vehicle bans prior to the DLC without issue.

Initially I only had a small segment zoned as a district and the Unique factories seemed to be ignoring that and continued to drive through it, as well as deliveries from outside. Also other parts of the residential zone was being used.
I then extended that zone to cover the whole area as well as the roundabout and main medium road feeding up to the roundabout.
The roundabout would be ignored as it is constructed using highway roads but the medium road should be included.

bottom left corner there is a district that covers the road, does that have a traffic policy on it too? (though it is a highway so it shouldn't matter)

No that district is for generic industry and does not have any policies selected.

As noted prior to extending the larger district with the policy it was a fraction of that size, just covering the red outlined rectangle area, as that seemed to be the primary route that heavy traffic was using., it did not include the roundabout at the time.
That was not working and so I made a larger district as you can see but that still seems to not ban Ore trucks etc.

OK. Then I guess those delivery vehicles are classified as vans, like the smaller delivery trucks that are used by zoned processors.

That's what I had figured when I placed the post here, whether the choice of doing that was intentional or not.

You can see here an Ore truck....

vY3BaoQ.jpg

but this one comes from the Glass factory....

F9kz3Xk.jpg

.....if it carried a finished product to a warehouse then it might be classed as a delivery truck and so exempt from the heavy vehicle ban.

If that is the case they should have had the Ore truck just for moving the extracted Ore and then a delivery van to operate between a Producing factory to the warehouse. The Ore truck could then be classed as a heavy vehicle and banned if required and the delivery truck exempt.

At first seeing an Ore truck I assumed that it carried Ore and belonged to either a raw producer or a Warehouse exporting / moving ore.

That might explain what I am seeing and working as expected.
