Weird, though, that I always though the arm PPC's were much wider than in this pic......funny how our memories play tricks on us.
Funny, isn't it, how an image can be so iconic that it can convince a teenager (like I was in the late 1980's) to buy the game almost sight unseen?
Hilariously, I had originally gone to the shop that day to buy some D&D books......but left with this instead. Then found out one of my friends at school had a copy too! Ah, great times.

For me it wasn’t sight unseen, I had seen it the previous week. But it did stop me dead in my tracks of buying Car Wars that first time I saw it. I did say "almost". The shop owners liked me, so they let me look inside the box!
I hope you went back later and got Car Wars - constructing cars for that game is extremely enjoyable since it has the same "you can't really get everything you want into the weight and slots" restrictions as 'Mechs do. And it's a fun little game too
Has the 1.8 and Heavy Metal distribution schedule for Nov. 21st already been mentioned?
I would guess it will be like for the other two dlcs?

I’d imagine the patch time will be the same. That seems to be when Steam pushes them.
I hope the DLC will be at the same time this time. That would be a nice improvement.

Mech Quirks... long ago I recall Mike sharing with us his vision of Mech Quirks and how they would help breath Life and Individuality into BATTLETECH BattleMechs. SOON that vision will become a reality for the Mechs of HEAVY METAL!
There is no word yet from HBS about pre-downloads or release times on the 21st. I’ll include that information here when it becomes available. But we do know that HBS’s HEAVY METAL Release Day Livestream (http://twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive) will be at 8:00pm EST, Thursday 21NOV.

Are they doing an early release to backers? I'm traveling on 11/21 and I'd really like to get this installed before I'm forced onto crappy internet access in hotels.
No word yet. But I am keeping track of the various Twitter feeds so if anything pops up there, I’ll bring it back here. :bow:
Heavy Metal and Patch 1.8 will go live the morning of Thursday the 21st, Pacific time (we're in Seattle). Unfortunately most platforms don't have a way of offering preloading of DLC/patches on an already released game.
Thanks for the clarifications. That's a bummer...but on the plus side, I won't get to download it until 1.8.1 ;-) .
What an amazing November this has been for me personally at least, my first child was born on Nov 14th and now Heavy Metal coming so soon. I'm a happy camper right now.
Congratulations on the baby! The first one is a bit scary for most people, so I'll give you the best advice on parenting I ever got: Get a post-it note, write "Good-Enough Parent" on it and stick it on the fridge door. There will be days where you need to be reminded you don't have to be a perfect parent, you just need to be good enough.
