From my MP experience, usually Europeans are square in the middle, and game times are either too early for North American players or too late for Anzac players. As a Canadian, I envy you Europeans for your perfect timezones.

Was everyone who'd signed up to the HoI4 game meant to have shown up for the HoI3 one? I didn't intend to due to RL committments and I hope there wasn't an expectation for me to do so. If there was then it would've been nice to have had it communicated better... Personally, for a HoI3 one I'd recommend a different thread and PMs to everyone who's shown an interest. I know a good deal of us, myself included are likely waiting for HoI4 to drop before going for the roleplay.
Anyway, early days yet, word of mouth etc will ensure it will grow I'm certain.

I agree. This is a HOI4 MP thread and even though HOI3 is a great game, many people don't play it as much or aren't as interested in comparison to an HOI4 MP session.

When the game comes out, we will start organizing the sessions in a more detailed manner, taking into account time zones, schedules, language barriers, etc. Don't worry so prematurely, HOI4 MP will work! :D

This has been a public service annoucement :p

The interest in the game has nothing to do with this. It doesn't matter how well you organise the game, you will still have the issue of time zones. Unless you're going to be playing with no lifer's then it's impossible to have everyone on at reasonable times. No one wants to play in uncomfortable hours.
What we suggest is to take our experiences of that game and plan accordingly so as to have american and western european players in one lobby and eastern european and asian players in another. Waiting and saying "it'll work!" won't fix anything.

I agree with the synch of time zones however I was refering mostly to the low number of players. When HOI4 comes out, there will be so many players interested in MP that it will be enough to fill many countries in many different time zones :)

Long live the Greater American Empire!

I think you are missing the point. We tried to organize it. We talked about schedules, we posted times, we talked about our time zones. We had six people in the chat and could not find a time that worked unless we were going to be doing it once a month. Now imagine that with 30 people.

If you want to do that, with the game being once or twice a month, then maybe we could try that. But weekly it seems will be very difficult.

We discussed perhaps using the mini-community we built here to maybe facilitate American games, European Games, or Even like Atlantic games. But a worldwide game, with people from all over, really seems like a logistical nightmare. I just don't think it is going to work, and every person who was with me I think agrees.

Alright it's sad that you guys couldn't make a perfect hit.
But come on people instead of saying that we simply cannot do it why don't we all try to solve it together, I know it is closer to impossible but hey you gotta give it a try.

We solve many problems in our daily life take this thing as a challenge people.
We are trying to consider of the chances of a world class disaster if we arrange world wide MP but if it becomes a success, just imagine how many more players will like to join us.
As achmed said American games and European games sounds like a good idea
I propose another idea
On a weekly basis we can arrange hregional based games ( the players of the region decide how many games a games what time etc. )

But at least once a month a world game should be conducted this helps us a lot
We can try to manage one day a month it's not a big ( at least not for me and I guess it's the same for most of the people)
Weekly games might be a difficult scenario for a big game but small games with regional players will make it once a week.

Well at least we can gain experience for the big game by playing weekly games

Honestly even if this doesn't work out I'm looking forward to playing some MP sessions with the people I met here
Specially my Japanese boys Nev and achmed.
Also Magnus and takeo will give a tough competition :p

But at least once a month a world game should be conducted this helps us a lot

That is a point I raised in my argument. I don't think it is impossible, but I think a weekly, maybe even bi-weekly game would be impossible. Once a month would probably work, because we can fit it around schedules and make sure to clear the calendar well ahead. However, the question is, how many people really want that. If you do, then great. But, and maybe I'm wrong, I have a feeling that most people don't want to play that kind of game, where the game is played once a month. Because I believe that is the only way that it will work. But, if you would be willing to do that, and I would if lots of others would, feel free to speak up. I hope I'm wrong honestly. But then the other problem is, it all hinges on that one day going perfectly. That is a huge committment to make. Nobody wants to play for 7 hours, so we can only get so far each day. You're making a 1/3 if not 1/2 a year committment. What if someone just drops off? It doesn't ruin the game, but if you drop out 3 months in, it complicates things. I just don't know if this idea of a global game can really work out super smoothly.

So will you split the roleplay multiplayer sessions into: North America/South America/Western Europe/Eastern Europe/Western Asia/Eastern Asia?
We know for a fact that we have enough slots to fill 2 Europe/America sessions, what about the Asian ones?
Perhaps post a thread where the people that one to take part in the sessions, state their or time zones or countries and then someone collects the data and makes a conclusion on how many servers per area?

I'm in CST timezone, (UTC -6:00) so I'm usually compatible with Europeans as long as it isn't too early, but when it comes to Aussies I'm basically polar opposite. (I think this is the situation for most US/Canada players)

Please guys, if you're going to post your time zones then do it on the steam discussion. We already have the timezones of the 10 players who signed up for the failed hoi3 game, it's just that we need to copy those over to the new discussion and add the other 20 somethings players to the list.
