First of all the troops were not actually told not to. Take a look and what he did, don't just listen to what he said he did.

Also when at peace, countries don't line their troops up at the border. Doing so constantly like in HOI3 is actually bad AI. ie. In 1935 Mussolini moved troops to the border with Austria to intimidate Germany. They were not permanently sitting there waiting year after year.

I also believe I heard in one of the livestreams that you can place troops on a border to intimidate other nations and lower relations in some way so placing troops isn't always a good thing. I think the AI in the game currently is simply a placeholder for something trully bigger coming in the next month or so.

Was it depleted? It seems an alarmingly short war to have sent French manpower to literally zero, considering the new manpower model is such that you get huge waves based on recruitment laws and then only gradual increase over time. If that was France on a 3 year draft, hitting zero after a few months of combat would mean they've been designed to fail even harder than HoI3. I'd definitely like some clarification from a staff member.
Johan never went for higher levels of mobilisation, he remained in the mid-range, whereas Jacob was at (n-1) of the mobilisation level.

I keep hearing this but why would they have submitted for Beta if they were going to change the AI? Its nice to say but wheres the basis?

This article is the basis for my prediction and I am completely guessing but I would put money on it. This rings true for Vulkan and Metal for the other Platforms as well its just that Dx12 came out first.
http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/2...w-directx-12-could-change-it-for-the-better/2

The key part of the article is the last section. If any of you modded Hoi3 you'd know exactly what he's talking about with the LUA scripts Hoi3 ran that were pretty similar.

yeah, and I wont change it soon, as the 60 former french "divisions" fighting in south of france would drain it even with trickles of reinforcement.

I dont need that much more manpower for my current plans. I got naval supremacy around the empire, I have a large numerical superiority in Africa, so I can liberate the italian territories in peace, and if for some weird reason Jakob take out my fleet so he can land in britain, he's in for a tough fight, as there is about 35-40 full strength divisions in the British Isles, with about 12 more almost ready.

I managed to get out my motorized army from france back to britain, while I let my allied colonial militia (dutch/belgian) die to protect them..

We had a bug where the montly manpower was 1 instead of 10-20k, which is now fixed.

I don't know if you noticed, but my motorized divisions are now scheduled to get 3 batallions of modern medium tank destroyers each :)

Yep, I'm sure he has absolutely no idea how to play the game. I don't know what's going on from looking, and neither do you, so I'm gonna take his word for it. Just because it didn't happen IRL doesn't mean it's not a good idea to guard your borders in game. They practically surrendered half their country. Even the HOI3 AI kept troops on the borders at all times.

Very nice video. Jakob made some pretty glaring mistakes though costing him a ton of manpower.
1. He had WAY to much of his force in the polish campaign. He could have used probably less than 1/2 of it and still got the job done quickly and effeciently. 1/2 of those troops should have been lined up for the push through the netherlands etc.
2. 90% of his fighters at least should have been on the western front ready for Johans air blitz. This would have given him an upper hand right from the begining.
3. He never should have made the attack plan for the maginot line. When he went through and had all his generals execute right at the begining he turned those troops into a manpower siv.
Didn't help that Troy didnt get his extra research slot in the 2nd WWW like he should have. Thats alot of lost research time. Could have easily had a few more techs researched.

With that being said it looks like quite a bit of balancing should happen. I'm not sure they've really perfected the air interface yet either.

Can't wait for release. Hopefully its sometime in Q2.

Johan, can you clarify the manpower situation? As in, how the Franco British union works with respect to that. If you are at volunteer army and France is at 3 year conscription or something like that, what happens? Do you inherit manpower in general from France, or does the manpower that they have recruited just disappear?

yes, i saw those 3 battalions of modern medium TDs attached to your divs.

One question, if you are "0" manpower, how do your divisions refill?? or do you have "special permissions as the VP". Also, why didn't you inherit French manpower when you pulled off a Henry the Fifth?

Oh ok, my misunderstanding then. I have also asked him a question regarding that.

Where Edward the IIIrd and Henry the Vth failed, Johan the Ist has succeeded magnificently and pulled off the 1000 year old dream of all Englishmen to conquer France. (technically it is a union but France has disappeared).

I wonder why it happened? Did the VICHY not trigger due to "some flaw" or was it "done on purpose" by Johan.

manpower is stored in each state.. so I get fuck all from France, as the germans is occupying it.

Overseas and non-core give only 10% of possible manpower, and I get 10% of french overseas, with my laws which is 2%..so kind of 0.

Interesting thing I spotted. Tank Destroyers attached to the frontline regiments themselves (instead of the Support Column). What other assets can be attached in the Regimental Structure and which in the Support Column?

All the self-proppeled units need to be in Combat collumn. 'Towed' Arty, AT and AA can be attached as support companys or combat battallions.
The support Artillery (and AT or AA) are smaller then the full sized one (less equipment needed and therefore not that powerfull), but won't slow your divisions down or give a penalty for different terrain.
Only support battalions (or paratroopers) can be air droped.
