I usually dont do this but i hope someone of paradox reads this by chance. Regarding the Ai the focus should be on the part where the ai changes after a certain point. Like my Ai Ally germany is stuck on producing endless land units and 0 planes and 0 ships. I dont know if that just failed to load but its a huge problem coz I as Italy cant produce all the planes and ships for all of the Axis. I suggest a simple "If reached xxxx land units, start build planes" for a short term solution. Maybe its only me but that seems to be the only problem for me right now. Oh and the no game log thing bothers me a lot. You just blink and suddenly e.g. china is united and you get no notification. I hope you read this or someone who knows how to get this feedback to paradox might do that for me. Thank you for your time whoever reads this :)

Hi everyone and welcome to the 60th dev diary (wow). This week we released Hearts of Iron IV! Initial reception seems to be great. Good reviews and a lot of players playing the game! The team is really pleased with what we have accomplished!

Some fun statistics for first week:
Top nations played:
Germany - 35%
Italy - 13%
Soviet - 10%
USA - 10%
Japan - 8%
United Kingdom - 4%
France - 3.5%

The most played minors seems to be China, Poland and Turkey.

Hotfix 1.0.1
We have been working on a hotfix patch for solving some performance issues and crashes that have popped up. It is still an optional beta patch, and I expect we will make it available for all on monday. If you have issues listed below and want to try it out go here to check things out early: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/hoi4-1-0-1-hotfix-beta-patch.945139/

Changelog for that is:

Stability & Performance
  • Fixed several rare CTDs.
  • Late-game performance optimizations.
  • Large peace conference resolutions are now faster and also properly indicate that they are active to non-participants.
  • Added GUI scaling option for people with very small or very high resolution displays (experimental).
  • Added a max framerate limiting system (defaults to 75 fps) to help people with the combination of bad cooling, great graphics cards and very high screen refresh. If you are one of these with heat issues I would love to hear if this solved it (changing max_fram_rate in settings can let you remove its effect by making it higher, or go lower if you still have issues)

Gameplay
  • Fixed an issue with deploying troops during spanish civil war when continuing savegames.
  • Can now zoom in and out using PgUp and PgDown buttons on keyboard.
  • Stopped an exploit where player could redirect a naval transfer into an invasion without preparation.
  • Fixed a case where fleets who found themselves outside base range would be instantly deleted.
  • Fixed some highlighting issues in tutorial.

Content
  • Added 9 new unique nation leader portraits.
  • Improved some VP/state names in China.
  • Improved a lot of alternate ideology nation names and party/leader names.
  • France can now send volunteers to Spain if they choose the Support Nationalists focus.
  • Fixed many localization issues, both in english and other languages.

Here are some cool portraits @Sideburnout has been adding to the patch to flesh out minors:
0tXQO6I.jpg

Right now we are working on the first proper patch that we plan to release just before vacation in july. You will get more detailed info in coming weeks but the main focus will be:
- AI
- Air warfare balancing
- Making sure invasions are harder to pull off, easier to defend against and more cleverly done by AI
- Improving peace conference scoring
- Quality of life interface improvements
- Bug fixing

Enjoy the game and we'll try to keep up with the amazing activity here on the forum!
does this help the game closing on the loading screen 'loading graphics ' to be parasitic?

Initial reception seems to be great. Good reviews

You must have been looking at a different forum. The one here and the feedback on Steam don't suggest a "great reception" so much.
I'm not surprised but am saddened to see this PR hype.

Patches are welcome though. Keep working on it!

Hey,

I'm not sure if this is a bug, an oversight or simply a design choice.
Today when I played a multiplayer game, starting as Germany, one of the people I was playing against (Soviets) boosted France's party popularity. France converted to communism and kept their national tree (obviously). I then staged a democratic coup, which happened a year after. The 'problem' I spotted was, that the new France that spawned simply had the generic tree with no focuses completed. I thought this would be pretty weird for France, should they've won the civil war.

Maybe consider copy-pasting the national focus tree from the country wherein the opposing faction spawns? This would mean that the new faction would still be able to play the role that was intended for them should they win, without getting to do the national focuses again. I also wonder what would happen, if say Japan demanded Vietnam, and the new France had spawned and won the civil war... would the event just not trigger then? I haven't actually tested that, just a thought.

It's a really great HOI game! First sign of that is I keep playing the 1.0 version more than three days! Still confused over why braindead naval invasions keep happening for 4 iterations of this series and why Venezuela keep attacking the Maginot-line with 1 division over and over :p Still I keep going back so there's some magic in here for sure. And Germany sure attacks Switzerland often in HOI4. I know that Hitler disliked the Swiss but to rather go through the alps in 1940 than the ardennes is outright lunacy.

The brakes in the middle of the game 1943. Although my system is under the recommended requirements!

I understand why they happen! Because of endless spam AI divisions. It is necessary to strictly limit the number of divisions max 200-250 and not as now in the Soviet Union 650++!!!! AI so stupid that it does not increase the number of battalions in the division. DEVELOPERS Fix it !!!

It would be great if in obderver mode or with human_ai enabled the player would get newspapers about developments in his country and the world. Right now they only showed if player controls the country directly, but this game is much more interesting watched then played.

One thing I really find annoying is if you try to industrialize you tend to not have enough resources and the way they are balanced is not fair at all, for example Belgium has massive iron mines and coal mines in Wallonie but on the other hand Vlaanderen had mostly agriculture but in the game Wallonie doesn’t produce anything and Vlaanderen has 4 Iron which makes no sense. This is just one example, I find the uneven resources very annoying and kind of game breaking. I would highly suggest that there are more resources to be mined such as coal, uranium and be able to make factories to process these goods into such as steel or give cheaper alternatives to solve shortages. I would even suggest adding agriculture like in HOI3 but not just as a research but maybe as civilian factories to expand farms and land clearances to make monthly manpower increase go up. In my opinion this would add a bigger depth into the game and make the industries more entertaining and satisfying to expand, right now it feels quite dull and not many options are availabe.

@podcat for the love of all that's holy, please try to make the 'common enemy = don't give a f*** about access rights' thing a top priority if you can. As it is, it turns an otherwise very cool game into ridiculous experience that frankly made me shelve the game until it's hopefully sorted out. (this is compounded when it affects countries like France where you don't even get a peace conference until *years* after, if at all, to fix the patchwork mess)

I can't help but wonder why is this even in the game at all, in the first place? What possible issue are you trying to solve with it, that you think is worse than this 'solution'?

(am talking mainly about the shared access here. the supply thing is as far as i can see separate, though they do feed each other to some extent)
