I have to agree when it comes to Polish-Lithuanian alliance before WWII. Out of all Polish neighbors only Soviets were less likely of an ally, so unless there is much more to that idea, I'd strongly suggest replacing it with either Hungarian or Czech alliance.
I'm under impression the way this works is, the "Between the Seas" focus allows you to create the custom faction, and then the player can try to invite other countries to it through regular diplomatic actions. The extra steps for Lithuania/other Baltic States are there to allow such invitations to work for the Baltic States (or just Lithuania specifically) because like pointed out, this particular alliance is unlikely to work without some extra steps taken. But you can probably try to get alliance with Hungary and/or Czechoslovakia as soon as the Between the Seas is finished and you have your own faction.

Where in the Pacific did Poles fight?.

Some pilots.
Among them Witold Urbanowicz for instance. Former commander of the famous 303 Squadron.

Funny story is that Polish gov DoWed Japan after they attacked the UK, due to the mutual assistance pact but... Japan did not accept it :)

Poland always gets a lot of love, but they were a very minor player in WW2. Frankly, I'd prefer a China DLC.
Poland is probably the best choice for free DLC. Quite big but relatively not wealthy fanbase. For other DLC you will have to pay with real money.

Yeah, that's why Poland had a "minor" role (which is more than "no" role).
But it's not even close to contributions/involvement of the real big players.
Poland is a minor nation even in HoI, as it should be.
You are right, but same goes with France. With bigger manpower and significantly better industry, they did not stop the Germans and were quickly overrun.

In long run only the biggest economies mattered (USA and USSR). Others if not geographically isolated didn't had a chance to live long enough. Poland was important (and should be portrayed as such) when it comes to initial configuration of war. Several probabilities:
- historical, invasion leads to world war
- limited war
- alliance with Germany. How would Barbarossa ended with over 1 million of Poles on Axis side. Would 200 kilometres made a difference and so on.

If you set your standards to war contribution that low, I'm certain that Ireland ought to have a major role too, for all the Irish Americans that fought in the war.
It would be normal to say that Poles had no interest in Pacific war. It was american point of interest (Indonesia, Korea), so I don't mind that not so many Poles would be involve in this conflict. Poles were mainly needed as soldiers in Polish Armed Forces in The West where they would alongside with British army fight against Germans. Actions in Europe would benefit more for their Motherland than in Pacific.
But writing that Poles weren't even fighting in Pacific war would be harmfull for memory of their contribution.
As mr.pithorr mentioned native Poles were involve too.

I'm with you - I'd love to see a China DLC, but I think it's more a problem of AI than material. If we see improvements in the next few expansions, I could see China coming in then.

More trucks than the entire Axis? That's surprising if true. Sauce?

They've repeatedly maintained that the DLC project ran parallel to the development. Considering Johan has been on a kick of cutting things rather than releasing unsatisfactory product, I would imagine that it would have been cut if it were related to the initial delay.

My understanding is that they don't consider this part of your expansion passes, because even people who aren't getting the expansion passes are also still getting it. I wonder if this level of content is akin to what we should expect from our expansion passes, though. @BjornB - any way we could clarification on whether this counts and if not, should the expansion passes be expected to be about this size or larger?

One source is http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remembrance/history/historical-sheets/material

Another is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_Canada_during_World_War_II

which yields "Canada's wartime motor vehicle production constituted 20% of the combined total production of Canada, the US, and the UK.[14]:167 The nation had become one of the world's leading automobile manufacturers in the 1920s, owing to the presence of branch-plants of American automakers in Ontario. In 1938, Canada's automotive industry ranked fourth in the world in the output of passenger car and trucks, even though a large part of its productive capacity remained idle because of the Depression. During the war, this industry was put to good use, building all manner of war material, and most particularly wheeled vehicles, of which Canada became the second largest (next to the United States) producer during the war. Canada's output of nearly 800,000 trucks, for instance, exceeded the combined total truck production of Germany, Italy, and Japan. Rivals Ford and General Motors of Canada pooled their engineering design teams to produce a standardized vehicle amenable to mass production, the Canadian Military Pattern (CMP) truck, which served throughout the British Commonwealth. Approximately half of the British Army's transport requirements were supplied from Canadian manufacturers. The British Official History argues that the production of soft-skinned trucks, including the CMP truck class, was Canada's most important contribution to Allied victory.[20]"

Will there be a nationalist china dlc? It would make sense considering they were a major power by the end of the war.
I can't imagine Chinese Republic being forgotten. They were practically a major nation on par with Japan and UK. It's just that they ended on the losing side of the war... I'm sure China will get its very own expansion pack. HoI always had problems with simulating protracted war in China between Japan, RoC, communist insurgents and warlords. Devs said a lot about improving this aspect in DevDiary47 but it seems like it still needs more attention. I'm sure that it warrants another expansion pack!

Simple, during Pacific war there were fighting americans with polish descent.

Really...?
Not trying to be a dick but I literally laughed out loud reading this.

I'm not saying it is a huge number but the Polish contribution to the Battle of Britain has always been considered very important, and especially as many were veterans from the German invasion of Poland and so had a lot of experience and flight time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-British_personnel_in_the_RAF_during_the_Battle_of_Britain#Poland

I've actually seen a very nice British documentary on the subject. Very interesting stuff, both in terms of Battle of Britain and Polish contribution to it.

There are a bunch of minor nations that are well worthy of national focus/event/unit packs (although I hope in the future the cosmetic and gameplay stuff are separated out again, once it's paid-for rather than "bonus" DLC), but Poland has to rank highly amongst them, even if just for the extra flavour the unit packs give to German or Russian players that fight them. Add in the potential for very interesting games with Poland, and I can't see why anyone would have an issue with it beyond the "I have another favourite preference and want that instead".

China's the only "minor" * nation that clearly, head-and-shoulders no-doubt-about-it deserves more attention (I'm not saying cases can't be made for other minors, but I'm arguing it'd be contested), and I feel/hope that China both requires and will get more attention than a national focus/events/unit pack.

* While there was a clear gap between the seven majors and the capacity of China technologically, industrially and vis-a-vis power projection in this period, I'm in no way trying to belittle China or the (immense) contribution it made during the conflict.

They were practically a major nation on par with Japan and UK. It's just that they ended on the losing side of the war...

Suggesting China was "practically on par with Japan and the UK" is rather a stretch, but I wouldn't want the Poland united thread to be further derailed so not suggesting we should thrash it out here if you disagree - by all means kick off a new thread and tag me in :).

When I said that RoC was on par with Japan I just wanted to say that they managed to tie Japanese in grueling combat for 8 years. Slowly but surely they were losing but still...
Anyway you are right let's not derail and focus on awesome polish power!
Here is my input, if paradox ever decides to make more fantastic DLC like sunset invasion I hope that they will consider adding giant death robots. Here are some suggestions for Poland and other major nations.

Well, if you mention that... What's about the possibiity of Polish-Japanese alliance to smoke the Soviet menace? Let's say Japanese decided to fight commies instead of going south, that makes Poland the best ally for them (or Germany if Poland is already conquered).

Fun part is, Poland and Japan did have vague discussions about possible military co-operation at the outbreak of Russo-Japanese war in 1904. Not much came out of it, thanks to involvement of Roman Dmowski who viewed it as ill-thought affair and was leaning more towards working with Russia.

Well, if you mention that... What's about the possibiity of Polish-Japanese alliance to smoke the Soviet menace? Let's say Japanese decided to fight commies instead of going south, that makes Poland the best ally for them (or Germany if Poland is already conquered).
According to Timothy Snyder book's "Bloodlands" Stalin actually feared about Polish-Japanese alliance aimed at USRR. But the truth was that Poland wasn't interesed in a war against Soviets.

Though I get what people are fighting over here, I think both sides are missing the point. HoI, though I haven't played any version yet, seems to be not only about WW2 but the years leading up to it (correct me if I'm wrong). In this sense sure, Poland may not have contributed to the war aside from providing its manpower through various allied sub-armies, but one cannot discount the very intricate diplomatic role that Poland played in Europe before the war broke out. A lot of the events that laid the ground work for the war specifically involved Poland as a major actor. For that reason I don't think it makes much sense to think that Poland doesn't deserve some fleshing out. And this is in the end still a sandbox game, who knows what role Poland could've played in a broader European war had things played out in different scenarios than they actually did.

My second point being the intermarium concept (I also agree this is a much better focus tree name). I find I need to mention that for this concept to actually work in any degree with both a Romania and Hungary as Polish allies in such a framework, there would need to be some specific prerequisites for good relations between these two for it to work at all. The reason Poland was unable to expand the alliance past Romania was because the territorial disputes Bucharest had with Budapest prevented the latter in joining the alliance. All in all, its seems wherever Poland sought multiple allies, the conflicts between them always excluded one party over another.
