Is it also possible to mod the air regions and sea zones you can choose for your naval and air attacks with this tool?

F.e I want to make them all a Little bit smaller and get more?

Hello, I'm looking into making a "historical stats" mod, mostly aimed at tanks, aircraft and ships but I may include some other things along the way. We'll see.
Anyways, is there a way to change such values as stats like speed, hard attack, soft attack etc? Would that also be covered by the tools or is there even simpler way?
I'm only now breaking into modding and this will be my first mod so any help is appreciated.

Always been easily done with notepad before.

This looks awesome. Sorry guys, but , despite talk to the contrary pre-release, HOI3 was a total PAIN to mod. It looks like HOI4 will be way easier in this regard.

I also want to get into modding but HOI4 launch is still some time away so i started to try to mod eu4 to get the basics off modding a pdx game .

Good work. This is what defines Paradox as a company. You could have been like many gaming companies who fear modifications and try to curb them. Instead you go ahead and not only allow them, but go out of your way to encourage them. Not only the community benefits but I think Paradox does as well.

p.s whoever makes a Battletech mod first will forever live on in my heart.
I hope you're as excited about the upcoming BATTLETECH game as I am. I was so excited when it went up on Kickstarter. :)

I'm happy to see these improvements to modding. I've done some minor personal mods for Paradox games in the past, but haven't done more because of the challenges of modding and getting good feedback about problems with what I implemented. It sounds like a lot of that will be improved, which is great!

I'v never really done any modding, other than some very light tweaking of game files in some games I get obsessed with, but this looks absolutel fantastic! I can't wait for the community to get their hands on this, and I can't wait to mess around with it myself!

-Do the carrier based versions of the planes have different stats/ values/ (profiles), or are they at least moddable? Means have they a different unit file? (Same for tanks)
-Also do the TD/Sp-Arty/ AA variants of tanks have different unit files?
I think this may have been answered, but just to be sure... Yes they have a different profile and you can add, remove or change them as you please.

Podcat, any chance to see the "change_tag" effect in HOI IV?
Do you mean changing to play as a different nation? Yes that's in there. change_tag_from

The AI in HOI3 was run though Lua scripts, but we decided to abandon these for several reasons in HOI4 (lack of lua knowledge at the company and low performance was the big ones). The AI is still however very moddable and has a lot of scripts to modify. I think its best to wait and talk about that in the dedicated dev diary on AI stuff I'll make @SteelVolt write before release though.

Lua scripting is actually very easy to learn and it should be reasonably fast, that's why many games by many developers are using it massively. Your design decision probably means you have developed an even better way to puppeteer the AI.

Actually, an ad hoc scripting system for all Paradox "map games" (CK, EU, V, HOI, Stellaris, etc) that is loved and maintained might be a pretty darn good investment* for the future. I hope you consider this.

(*the same investment Bohemia Interactive has made in the Arma series with its own bespoke scripting system)

Can't speak for him for sure, but a lot of us have been asking to modify the tag of a nation. To give an example from the last WWW, being able to become Austria-Hungary again if Austria or Hungary owns the territory of both, that kinda thing. Nation forming.

Hopefully,I think that I want a complete application of multibyte character set which you were not able to realize in EU4 and CK2 to realize in HOI4.:rolleyes:
Because it became the topic in Japan that the company which localized went bankrupt, the paradoxical situation that the people who are interested in HOI than before increase rather occurs.:eek:
Therefore, this is because the players may still increase by modding if the problem of the character code can be settled.o_O
