Is anyone else disappointed in this month's DD? I feel like there hasn't been too too much new information.
I was looking forward to getting more news on convoy raiding. After all, the U-Boat menace was the most important naval facet in the Atlantic at least.
I'm just surprised to have read 2 DDs on naval warfare and pretty much nothing in them about convoy raiding. In the Pacific surface fleets were the major aspect, but in the Atlantic (slightly more important) it was all about convoy raiding.Well, you can't really talk in depth about convoy raiding without these two first DDs about naval warfare, I believe.
If you're saying that you want more info about anything, I'm right there with you![]()

Podcat when you say about shipping replacement equipment overseas, does this mean that equipment has a location, rather than just being in a pool, so if I built a factory in hong kong and had it pumping out small arms and trucks, would the hong kong garrison be able to reinforce directly from the production of this factory, or would they have to still be resupplied from abroard. When you say replacement equipment is that just shorthand for "supply to regain org/morale" or do tanks and such actually need to be shipped across the ocean to units to replace losses.
If that was the case, I suppose you could see units in cut off stalingrad having lost tanks replaced directly from T34s rolling out of the Stalingrad heavy industry.
I think convoy raiding doesn't get enough credit in the Pacific. The US had sank every japanese ship that floated by mid 1944. The collapse of the Japanese shipping network isn't given enough credit when talking about the Pacific War.
Japan did maintain a fleet of submarines, but half of them were intended for accompanying fleet actions, and only the other half were convoy raiders, hell, they even tried to make submergible seaplane carriers, I kid you not.For some reason the Japanese felt submarines as convoy raiders weren't Samurai-honour-codex-stuff, but launching sneak attacks on Pearl Harbour and Singapore was cool...

Something that just came to mind.
We know that aircraft and tanks are counted as they are, but is it the same thing with naval units? In previous games a submarine unit or a destroyer unit would represent a multiple, abstract number of vessels just like air wings represented 100 aircraft. How is it in HOI 4, when it comes to both production and actual deployment?
...
DDs are single ships. Currently everything is that isnt a transport, although we may change things before release. Strong large vessels can take more than one torpedo hit, but torpedoes are a bit random by nature. ...
I'm very excited... like you, I just seen the USS Alabama, got my HOI4 heat pumping![]()
