Generally speaking... strategy games, especially RTS games, tend to fail on Consoles.
Age of Empires 2 (PS2) and R.U.S.E (PS3,Xbox360), are prime examples.
Well, if you know nothing better then a console adaption you might actually enjoy them. One of my first RTS was Command & Conquer, too - albeit the DOS version. And I played it on PS1. For about 5 minutes. Horrible 5 minutes...Starcraft 64 and command con conquer 64 got me into RTS! I still remember how excited I was for a strategy game I could play.

It was updated to version 2.2 a week or so ago.Ironically, console Stellaris still uses the tile system I think
