Generally speaking... strategy games, especially RTS games, tend to fail on Consoles.

Age of Empires 2 (PS2) and R.U.S.E (PS3,Xbox360), are prime examples.

Starcraft 64 and command con conquer 64 got me into RTS! I still remember how excited I was for a strategy game I could play.

Well, if you know nothing better then a console adaption you might actually enjoy them. One of my first RTS was Command & Conquer, too - albeit the DOS version. And I played it on PS1. For about 5 minutes. Horrible 5 minutes...

The playstation 1 had support for a mouse, and I too played C&C on it once or twice, with the mouse. (I played it much much more on PC though).
The playstation version of the game was a patched version of the PC one, with less bugs. For instance, on the PC version, AI units would not fire on sandbag walls if neither a unit or a building was within firing range of said AI unit, permitting you to effectively wall-off your base and develop yourself without risk, and then overwhelming the AI with a full army. The console version corrected this.

Ahhh, likewise. C&C Red Alert, Retaliation were definitely what got me into strategy games. Later on Age of Empires on PS2 I think haha.

Apparently Microsoft and Paradox are opening up modding on Xbox One to a point where there's no requirement for pre-approval from either party, at least when it comes to Surviving Mars. Paradox mentioned other titles on Xbox One would follow suite.

Maybe a console version of HOI IV isn't that far off - if they can actually make it run decently and/or work with the UI.

A console version of HOI IV just would not work well. The controls would feel horrible & I feel that the demand for a console edition is too low. Even though Stellaris is coming to console, I doubt any other Paradox games will. I'm not ruling it out it just seems implausible.

So news flash stellaris has just in been updated to 2.2 on console for both PS4 and Xbox and to give my personal opinion the console feels way better then PC. Although not having mods suck I actually really enjoy playing the game. If anyone could port HOI4 to console it’s the creators themselves. I believe they really have the talent and capability to do so. They really have nothing to lose other then letting people who don’t have the money to afford expensive or even regular pc’s to play this wonderful game. I hope this is a option they explore in the future. The only people I can see who would be against this are those who simply don’t want there game heading to console. For whatever reasons it wouldn’t effect then whatsoever. Stellaris has been a massive success and I don’t see why HOI4 can’t share the same experience. TO CONSOLE!
