It's difficult in our language to state without an explanation that I don't want it to take a long time, but if they need it to make the DLC right, then there is no other choice. I'm sure Paradox feels the same way too.

Heck if they could, I'm sure they'd release large, well done and well received DLC every month. But in reality, that's not really possible.

Oh aye, sorry, deffo agree, I was more rolling with the art of the possible.

For some "Man the guns" vibe, here's a pic from Navsource to get us in the mood :D

omg hope much more detailed naval combat. Also missing ships like light carriers escort carriers better amphibious warfare and units. also hoping I can control where supplies go!

Yes they told me i am a dinosaur because i like Hoi III far a lot more. Therey you could micro management all the convoys. Prior which resources come back and also which port prior to supplies/area.

Also there hte convoys had some escorts. Now you must use youre expensive ships, to do escort in a area and i never saw much divrence in raided convoys? may be i need new glasses?

The problem with the HOI III system was the ridiculous resource stockpiles. Any game where the Axis can easily trade for enough resources pre-war to last them to the end of the war has some serious design issues.

So yes, HOI4 may have gone too far in abstracting certain things, it also is vastly improved simply because of the far superior economic engine. Then there is the likelihood that it is that very level of abstraction which has allowed them to sell a million copies which in turn funds continued development of new features.

As far as reintroducing some concepts that had been in HOI III and dropped, there is a common theme here. Those things being added back in are being done so after it being clear that the majority of the community wants them (rather than simply a few diehard fans). Further if those items were deemed cumbersome and not conducive to ease of play, they will be added back in such that it is with much less overburdening detail than the HOI III version had.

I look forward to having fuel rules and having them in such a way that it matters instead of being something I can stockpile to the rafters and then ignore.

"It's gonna suck"

"$20 is a rip off"

Yeah well you went to see every shitty Star Wars post Empire and you will happily pay $14 to see Solo although you know it's gonna suck so just pre-order, set your expectations low and hope to get awed!

Resources? HOI3? You mean that line of numbers atop the screen with icons and the number "99999" next to each one for the duration of the entire war?

"Keep an eye on the horizon for more details on what is coming in Hearts of Iron V: Man the Guns."

Okay, but I'll keep my 20 euro until there's a bit more details. If they can't list anything yet (and call it HOI5 by accident), it doesn't exactly encourage pre-ordering, you know?

If you look back a couple of DD's, Podcat already listed a lot of the candidates for inclusion in 1.6 when he updated the roadmap. He is not going to commit to specific features, until they have something completed. The largest stuff, like naval rework, can be mentioned because it is the central theme and consists of multiple changes and not just one thing. It is certain that some of those naval items will be complete and working in time for the update, if not all of them.

In the British regimental system it is not uncommon for NCO's to be promoted to acting officers, I personally have known 2 sergeants as acting captains. Both later became 'proper' officers, lieutenants while still acting captains. I believe an private has ended his service with the rank of general.
It was Field Marshal Robertson. Started as a private and ended up a Field marshal. He was Chief of the Imperial General Staff for the last half of WW1.

I hope that if the UK is getting a touch up that the NF trees from TfV get a bit of a freshen up to. Not a major overhaul but a bit more interactivity with with the rest of the commonwealth would be good.

So looking forward to fuel!

They should fix the base game before ask for 20$ i am not playing the game before the AI is fixed. Maybe they need a new DLC for that too?

Who says they can’t do both? Besides, wouldn’t fixing naval warfare be part of fixing the base game? And what do you even mean, fix? The current AI plays well enough to be enjoyable so long as you don’t get too gamey. Why I just had a Germany game where I was stalemated for years because I couldn’t get at Britain, my attempt to take Spain just gave the Allies another place to put troops on the mainland, I had to dispatch troops I almost didn’t have to plug the Balkans because Turkey joined the Allies, and the Soviets managed to hold me back for three years because of everything else. Sure, I had most of my divisions on that front, but without the tanks bogged down everywhere else, I didn’t have the punch to inflict a decisive defeat. I enjoyed that game. I enjoy nearly every game of HOI4 I play, and I only play single player. If you think the AI is “broken,” that’s your prerogative. It could be better, but it’s not broken.

The AI IS broken, the map is lagging, the map With all the colors is ugly they should use other colors, or let ppl choose to not have Disney colors on map.
No transport ships, so instead you need to have full control of the whole Ocean to invade by sea. never used airplanes but i guess its the same there.
I just stopped playing the game after a few hours, i crushed the japan fleet in 1939, invaded them With 15 div inf, my troops stood on US ground all the time and then suddenly flew to Japan over the Ocean, its just sad.

I used to like Paradox but this DLC thing is sad, you have to pay 20 for stuff that should have been in the basegame

I legit don't get the vitriol for the payment thing. The most important elements of the new updates are going to be in the free patch, not the DLC. The devs learned that the hard way because of CK2 and EU4 DLC creep.

I still dunk on them for the way DLCs are handled at times, but at least with HOI4, you get the navy overhaul for free. DLCs are just extra candy you may or may not want.

Some rework to Spain in this dlc?
I don't think that would be a focus for Man the Guns. I see that for when the devs get back to the Med and do a DLC pack for Italy, which includes the Iberian nations. My guess is next DLC will be a Soviet/Scandinavia one with supply, espionage, and diplomacy modifications.

The Ai is broken because you don't like the map colors. I know that is not what you meant but it is more or less what you said. You claim it broken but give no supporting argument for that statement whatsoever.

Of course the AI does not play as well as a person. It has also not done so in any previous version of the game. HOI4 AI is at this point better than HOI3 was two years into its development and better than HOI 1 or 2 ever got to be.

Granted I play MP because I like more challenge and more unpredictability, but that does not make the AI broken.

The AI IS broken

If you want to be constructive could you specify in what way you think the AI is broken?

What were you expecting it to do, and what did it do instead?

Just saying a broad feature like AI is broken or for example saying "fix supply" is not helpful since there will be about as many interpretations to what is broken or what should be fixed as there are players of the game. The developers can't read your mind and if no one that shares your specific AI issue give any meaningful feedback it's a very high chance it will not be improved on.

I used to like Paradox but this DLC thing is sad, you have to pay 20 for stuff that should have been in the basegame

All AI fixes have always been part of the free patches for HoI4 and I'm pretty sure they always will be.

You only played for a few hours sometime in the past, didnt use air, but that was long enough to come here and rant the ai is broken with no evidence. Why bother even posting if you won't bother to learn the game?

The game isn't perfect but it certainly isn't broken. And patches like the one that revamps the naval system are free.

This has been true of most previous incarnations of HOI as well. The government does not approve of any version of history that does not portray China as one nation united.

HOi allows for the Communists to lose: direct contravention of the inevitability of historical materialism...
