I am coming back to the problem of shoe-horning in models to prefixed slots - this time with the aircraft. It's a darned shame the shoe-horning has meant that the Blenheim is not a tactical bomber, as it should be, but instead a heavy fighter/night fighter - as it became only once it was obsolete. Pity is, although it became very quickly obsolete (and a deathtrap) by 1940, in 1936 when the game starts, the Blenheim was state of the art, one of the best bombers in the world. In the late 30's it actually outran most fighters in service at the time - it was the Mosquito of it's day. But because of the shoehorning, we cannot possibly replicate this.
So I have a question: Can heavy fighters be upgraded to ground attack roles in any way? If this is possible, at least then the bombing angle can still be played. Actually, now that I think about it, if Heavy Fighters can bomb, the heavy Fighter slot would suit the Blenheim perfectly. So please, Paradox, say Heavy Fighters can bomb?
P.S, it is nice to see Fighter escorts back in the game. They were missed in HOI III.
