Left in an impossible position, Edward was "encouraged" to abdicate.

He also was much "encouraged" by the government to abdicate because he was very german-frendly yet, his american love was a fascist-friendly (she was the Ribbentropp mistress) as he more and more became. British government was very eased that he abdicated. After that he even betrayed France and his own country with the help of a french aristocratic traitor named "Bedo" (not so sure about the spell though).

Very true. However, even if everything else remains the same, the Medium Mk.II (from 1925!) being researched within a few years of it being phased out is still a really, really bad fit. :p

Arguments about placements of everything else (eg. Matilda) aside, in this case especially I think it's very hard to argue that it shouldn't be in the place of the FT, and something else in its old spot at least.

Agreed. A Vickers Medium (or early cruiser, or early light) as starting tank, Matilda (or something else) where Vickers Medium is now, and the two lights to be Vickers light Mk-VI and VII "Tetrarch," might possibly be a more suitable approach, even if it's still not "ideal".

Very interesting!

And the DD about naval invasions next week will be even more interesting. Especially from an AI perspective. Will we se massive D-day style invasions in HOI IV? :D

Although I usually play Germany, Great Britain looks like a fun nation to play. Thanks Paradox for the in-depth game play that will make this game fun no matter what nation you play.

Hope Britain along with Germany gets historical naval vessels in beginning. Germany doesn't have the Tripitz and Bismark on the production line when WWW started. Also the Graf Spee? Although I would think the British would have the HMS Hood, Johan didn't go over his capitol ships. I guess what I am saying with British and all nations is to keep the naval production historic. And I know you can't make it totally historical. But the Bismark, Tripitz, Graf Spee, Hood are a must! Adios Amigos

I am coming back to the problem of shoe-horning in models to prefixed slots - this time with the aircraft. It's a darned shame the shoe-horning has meant that the Blenheim is not a tactical bomber, as it should be, but instead a heavy fighter/night fighter - as it became only once it was obsolete. Pity is, although it became very quickly obsolete (and a deathtrap) by 1940, in 1936 when the game starts, the Blenheim was state of the art, one of the best bombers in the world. In the late 30's it actually outran most fighters in service at the time - it was the Mosquito of it's day. But because of the shoehorning, we cannot possibly replicate this.

So I have a question: Can heavy fighters be upgraded to ground attack roles in any way? If this is possible, at least then the bombing angle can still be played. Actually, now that I think about it, if Heavy Fighters can bomb, the heavy Fighter slot would suit the Blenheim perfectly. So please, Paradox, say Heavy Fighters can bomb?

P.S, it is nice to see Fighter escorts back in the game. They were missed in HOI III.

In HOI 3 it seemed very scripted with little deviation from history. Thankfully HOI 4 seems a bit more willing to go A-historical. :)

Won't argue the toss on that one. If you say so. But it's a curious coincidence that England (and much of France) had a Queen/Empress Matilda that prosecuted a long civil war that lasted two decades. Although, to be fair, although she was Empress and ruled England and France with her husband, her attempt to be formerly crowned Queen of England was blocked, so she was Empress of the Angevin Empire (which included England), but Queen of England in all but actual name - so maybe the tank really was named after - a cartoon duck?! Maybe it's just a happy coincidence. "The guys in the front line think it's named after their favourite cartoon character - it keeps them happy - but REALLY..." (?) ;)
I see your point, but I just remember reading somewhere that it was named after a cartoon duck. I mean, it does look like a duck -

That is fascinating. Thank you! ;) Although I feel I should point out that in the UK Tea is losing favour these days to all the modern alternatives. In the 1930's and 40's it would have been a very different story. We'd have drunk far far more.
