was wondering, if paradox had thought of implementing bicycle infantry?

Seems Sweden was quite fond of this, not to mention quite a few other notable nations, like that of Japan that played a crucial role in the outcome of some battles. But more importantly it may give smaller nations the ability to be a poor man's motorised infantry, perhaps levelling the playing field somewhat that may lack in speed/armour compared to motorised, but the reliability & replaceability would be far more cost effective i suppose at the expense of reduced organization when moving from point to point, so may arrive at a battle completely shattered if not given time to recoup, although the opposite is believed and a division stamina would be better preserved with the ability to carry more then there on foot counterparts. Although would probably be another headache for balancing, so a trade off of some sort would be needed, perhaps a penalty to organization.

It could be used like the "forced march" feature from eu4/mote

1. Icon: Toaster?! What would the Japanese use a toaster for? An electric rice cooker with actual electricity, now that's luxury! Or even a full rice bowl would signal a consumer focus.

2. How is Japan's claim on Hawaii represented in the game? Historically, Japanese, stimulated by propaganda, viewed Hawaii as part of Imperial territory (that the US had nabbed first) and part of the inner circle of the ultimate empire. The Japanese population was the largest demographic component in the islands, and in Japan and Hawaii the press and propaganda was until mid-war strong on Japan's claim and those of Japanese descent owing loyalty to Japan. As US wartime propaganda did not fail to note to emphasize the threat of subversion. Plans were developed for the islands once "liberated."

3. WIll open a separate thread on causes of the IJA's failures in WW2, since it is only indirectly relevant to a more sandbox HOII4 where more avenues are open.

I have a question, can you have personal Alliances in multiplayer Games (Just send a request to your mate) or is that dependent on foci too? I ask because I'd like to try out some interesting Scenarios with my brother, like US-Japan Alliance or German/British one.

I think we will be able to easily mod the National Focus route AI will take(Just like the Decision choices the AI takes in Hoi3). Is that right?

The carrier aircrafts are on the same tree, that's the small carrier on the top right of each plane (and that's probably the 5th time it's explained on the thread ;))

Speaking of the national focus tree; is there any mechanic in the game that allows for effortless roughly time-wise historical or just desired activation of the focuses? Or will the player have to plan and continuously watch over the national focus trees in order to not miss a desired time-table? In one of the W^3 streams Germany seemingly forgot to start some focuses, which resulted in a rather delayed 'danzig or war'.

Not a big deal by any means, but i guess it would be nice to have either a time-table reminder of historical focuses, or the possibility to set reminders for last required startdate of any focus and its prerequisites in a tree in order to not fall behind.

Really disliked in hoi3 when you were going to start research which you needed to build certain units, and had forgotten to research its prerequisites making you fall behind on your plans by many months.

Perhaps the same strat as IRL, aka smash the European colonies while Germany keeps them busy?

That was my thoughts exactly, HOI3 was to railroaded to make that possible but perhaps with some careful diplomacy it could work in HOI4. Japan is probably one of the tougher nations to play in the Axis if not the toughest because you have no resources, all of your partners are to far away with not a large enough navy to actually convoy anything to you including arms, your industry is fairly weak, and the countries around you with resources mainly have poor infrastructure and/or bad terrain. A very fun challenge.

Again, this is a Video Game, and none of the other factions seem to be stuck on a railroaded course for war with a certain faction. Germany can ally France or the USSR hell possibly both. We haven't seen GB yet. The US can ally or attack virtually anyone they want. ect. The Historical context has for the most part been thrown out for the alternate choices.
Italy is also locked into siding with Germany or doing its own thing, when trying to keep the Stresa Front was still something that could have happened during 1936.
